ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Software Center of Expertise plays a key role in SES digital transformation by delivering high quality software. The global team consists of system architects, software engineers, software architects, test & integration engineers. We are looking for an experienced Software Architect to reinforce our Satellites management software systems team. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
COMPETENCIES
- Collaborate with the demand management team to design and develop features that meet product requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain the architecture of mission-critical operational software.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to gather, analyze, and define software requirements.
- Identify and propose innovative solutions to enhance and evolve existing software architecture.
- Provide guidance and support for validation activities to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Lead and support anomaly investigations, including resolution and implementation of preventive measures.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, assessing their relevance and applicability to the organization.
- Present proposed solutions clearly and comprehensively, considering system-wide impacts and dependencies.
- Mentor team members in best practices for testing and maintenance, including unit testing and test plan development.
- Conduct peer reviews of pull requests to ensure code quality and promote continuous improvement.
- Deliver demonstrations to stakeholders and customers, effectively communicating solutions and addressing questions.
- Support onboarding, training, and mentoring of new team members to ensure effective integration.
- Coordinate with development and test teams to promote effective communication and knowledge sharing.
- Actively participate in and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and technical discussions.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation covering system architecture and development processes.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement across the team.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in the design, development, and testing of mission-critical software systems.
- Strong programming expertise in Go (Golang).
- Proven experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools, preferably Azure DevOps.
- Solid understanding of satellite control systems, including encryption, telemetry decommutation, and satellite operations procedures.
- Familiarity with C4 modelling methodology is preferred.
- Experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Kafka and gRPC.
- Experience with real-time metrics visualization and event generation systems.
- Experience with NGSO satellites system is a plus.
