ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Intern to support our team in a key strategic initiative: the migration of existing Tableau reports and dashboards to Microsoft Power BI. This internship is ideal for someone eager to deepen their skills in business intelligence, data visualization, and analytics engineering while contributing to impactful, real‑world projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Assist in the end‑to‑end migration of Tableau dashboards, reports, and data models into Power BI.
- Analyze existing Tableau assets to understand data sources, logic, calculations, and visual structures.
- Rebuild and optimize dashboards in Power BI following internal design standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Data Analysts within the Data Services Team to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
- Support the creation of documentation, including data dictionaries, report specifications, and migration logs.
- Participate in testing and validation to ensure migrated reports meet business requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to BI tooling, data quality, and reporting processes.
COMPETENCIES
- Data Visualization Fundamentals - Understanding of dashboard design principles, KPIs, and storytelling with data.
- BI Tools Awareness - Basic knowledge of Tableau and Power BI, including charts, filters, and data connections.
- Data Modeling - Basics Ability to understand relationships, joins, and simple data models.
- SQL Literacy - Ability to write or interpret simple queries to explore data sources.
- Analytical Thinking - Ability to break down existing Tableau logic (calculated fields, parameters, filters) and translate it into Power BI equivalents (DAX, Power Query).
- Attention to Data Quality - Ability to validate data accuracy, spot inconsistencies, and ensure alignment between old and new reports.
- Adaptability - Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and internal processes quickly.
- Time Management - Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
- Ownership & Accountability - Takes responsibility for assigned tasks and follows through.
- Curiosity & Continuous Learning - Shows initiative in learning Power BI, DAX, and best practices in BI development.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
