Engineer, Satellite Telecommunications Systems

As the Senior Engineer, Satellite Telecommunications Systems you will be responsible for an end-to-end user-centered process that translates business requirements stemming from the customer-facing entities and corporate development areas into technical systems that are centered around or include satellites. You will translate customer business needs into a system concept that includes planning and implementing solution sets based on MEO/GEO infrastructure. These efforts will include cost and price efforts with schedul- ing of the system. You will also assess the performance at every step of the system implementation and collect lessons learned for future implementations.

Extended Job Description:


  • Define measurable parameters that reflect the system’s performance and customer requirements
  • Partition and apportion overall system requirements into the various system components
  • Determine and allocate resources needed to accomplish system design and implementation
  • Create and control technical project to design, implement and operate the system
  • Perform trade-offs of different architectures according to customer requirements
  • Support internal customer in meetings with external customers to assist and provide technical solutions
  • Act as System Architect, Account Holder, and/or System Designer of space and terrestrial systems
  • Perform due diligence, validation tests, and audits on prospective and existing suppliers of space and ground assets
  • Partner with corporate development, customer-facing entities, and the other teams
  • Execute studies to pave SES’s path to the business expansion and diversification
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices and implement innovative solutions
  • Mentor, coach, and train team members




  • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications or related field
  • 3-5 Years Experience in telecommunications
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience in the satellite industry
  • Experience facilitating feedback sessions
  • Knowledge of project financial structures
  • Proficiency in English, other languages beneficial
  • 25% international and domestic travel


  • Master's degree in telecommunications or related field
  • Project management or Agile Certification
  • Experience with satellite manufacturing
  • Knowledge of satellite and associated technologies, telecommunications networks, digital signal pro- cessing, RF transmission systems and utilization
