As a Senior Product Manager, you will be part of a Cloud Practice team forming and executing the larger SES strategy for satellite enabled cloud solutions. This role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to help close the Global Digital Gap, bringing education and commerce to ultra-rural areas, supporting government sponsored humanitarian missions, and connecting everything from ships, planes, island nations, and the remotest users into the digital age.  The role entails translating market insights and customer requirements into industry leading solutions and commercial strategies for satellite-based Cloud and Cloud-Enabled Services.

Extended Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities/Key Result Areas:

 

As a part of the larger Cloud Practice team, the role involves the following activities:

 

  • Analyzing and communicating deep insights across multiple vertical market segments as relates to satellite-based Cloud and Cloud Enabled services
  • Identifying and recommending priority markets for SES, including customer segments and solutions, geographies, and addressable markets
  • Assessing future technology evolution and market direction such as Enterprise IT/OT trends, Cloud Infrastructure and Services, IoT, LTE/5G evolutions, etc., and forming strategies to intercept these for maximum SES business benefit
  • Working with the various market-specific teams within SES Networks to develop Cloud strategies, including products and service portfolio, Go-To-Market approach, partner/channel needs, pricing strategy, and profitable revenue growth
  • Curating, launching, and incubating impactful Cloud and Cloud-Enabled solutions – including the generation of Business Cases, Market Requirement Documents, Solution Descriptions, Commercial/Pricing Structures, and Sales Enablement tools (roadmaps, feature descriptions, value propositions, etc.) 
  • Defining and tracking KPIs for Cloud Practice success, typically measured by sales, revenues, P&L, and RoI on required investments.
  • Interfacing with a cross-functional set of internal functions including Segment Management, Satcom Architecture, Commercial Management, Asset Management, Suppliers, Partners, and Sales and Marketing in support of the SES Cloud strategy and business
  • Working with Marketing and Partner management functions in support of sales enablement campaigns:  Collateral, training, roadshows, etc.

In order to achieve the outcomes described above, we believe you will have a strong mix of some or all of the following:

 

Skills/Competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of and skills in Enterprise IT/OT Digital transformations, especially as applies to Aero, Maritime/Cruise, Energy, Mining verticals
  • Knowledge of and skills in Government and Military Cloud and digital transformation strategies
  • Knowledge of and skills in Cloud Networking, Cloud Infrastructure, and/or Cloud based services and applications
  • Knowledge of and skills in Telco Cloud architectures, including virtualization (SDN, NFV, Orchestration) solutions and delivery of next generation communication services (i.e., 5G, IoT) from cloud native infrastructure
  • Knowledge and skills of key cloud platforms and service catalogues, i.e., Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, etc.
  • Business Development skills, able to balance near term tactics for revenue performance against strategic vision for sustainable growth
  • Product ownership – articulating product vision and roadmap, owning the full product lifecycle from cradle to grave, determining Go-To-Market strategies, and assuring the product’s business performance (P&L, revenue profile, etc.)
  • Strong presentation skills; possessing the ability to produce and present content in an inspiring manner to a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Self-starting/Self-Managing nature, with the ability to “lead by influence” across the organization
  • Intercultural awareness, working across a global enterprise with awareness and sensitivity to global cultural variations

 

Preferred Education & Experience (a combination of education and experience will be considered):

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) or equivalent in either Engineering with focus on Networking/IT/Cloud Solutions, or Marketing with focus on Business Development
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the Telecom/SatCom or Cloud Service Provider industry in Product/Portfolio Management or Business Development.  Other backgrounds can be considered, i.e., Marketing, Engineering if skills/competencies are consistent with the profile as outlined above
  • Proven track record of successful product definition and launches for Telco/MNO, Cloud SP, Enterprise, and Satellite SP customers
  • Experience with processes for new product development, implementation & management including: market trends/analysis, New Product Introduction, product roadmap development, product life-cycle management
  • Demonstrated public profile for industry events, media, and/or analyst engagements
  • Experience in a multinational organization, covering strategic, technical, commercial and marketing aspects 
  • Fluency in English.  Other languages are considered as additional assets
  • Ability to undertake international travel, up to 30% of the time
