Network Operations Engineer

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Within the Global Services Engineering team of the Service Delivery Department, the Network Operations Engineer should be supporting the commissioning of new services and providing 24x7 Level 3 Managed Services on-call support to the SES NOC and for engineering escalations and other services to keep the network stabilized and maintained for customer SLA requirements.
In this position you will be primarily focused on the IP Network Components of the SES product portfolio, but also includes monitoring tools & Linux administration elements, being responsible the support and growth of existing & new business products. 

 

 

You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Configuration, testing & implementation of SES Products
  • Deploying monitoring tools using both industry standard and bespoke systems to enable effective alarming and historical data collection of the customer’s end to end systems
  • Design, plan & execute operational changes as required, adhering to the defined Company ITIL Change Management and Internal Quality process
  • Level 3 Operations Engineering support of customer’s sites in-service, to include Network Operations Centre escalation’s via on-call 24/7 rotational support basis
  • Perform routine auditing of assigned Regional Area or specific Customer Sites; liaising closely with the Network Operations Centre and appropriate internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Engineering & Product Development teams in order to support the growth of the SES portfolio of products, act as the “voice of operations” to help ensure new products will fit into the operational environment


 

YOUR PROFILE:

 

1. Must Have

  • Education at University level within Engineering or appropriate demonstratable industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in IP internetworking with demonstratable experience in the satellite, telecommunications or service provider environment
  • Juniper / Cisco experience, certifications preferred (JNCIS, JNCIP, CCNA, CCNP)
  • Advanced level TCP/IP and routing knowledge (BGP,OSPF,ISIS,BFD)
  • 3+ years of experience in MPLS, Layer 2 / 3 VPNs, VPLS, Carrier Ethernet, CoS/QoS and IPsec

 

2. Nice to Have

  • Network analysis and management experience using SNMP, NTP, DNS, SSH, etc.
  • Understanding of GSO / NGSO Satellite Constellations, Satellite Communications & Advanced Networking principles
  • Advanced level troubleshooting and debugging skills
