Manager, Bid Management O3b mPOWER

Role Description Summary

 

The Bid Manager role partners with Sales, Commercial Management, Solutions Engineering and the broader sales support team to drive backlog and revenue for O3b mPOWER.

 

 This role is both tactical and strategic in its mission to:

  • Develop and deliver in proper timing compelling proposals for qualified opportunities and to create best-practice processes and models for future opportunities. 
  • Create proper contract documentation reflecting the presented agreed proposals

 

This role is so a key stakeholder on the lead to order process ensuring a continuous optimization of internal coordination keeping a customer centric approach to simplify complexities and expedite response times as targeting to exceed solution expectations and maximize O3b mPOWER value proposition over our Bids. The Bid Manager is the owner of the O3b mPOWER proposal development as of the related contract scope definition and the central orchestrator of all resources necessary to create and get approval for these respective documents.

 

Specific Market Segments/Regions may be assigned to each Bid Manager to build relationships with respective sales teams, establish accountability, and development market expertise.  At the same time, the Bid Manager must remain flexible to adapt to new challenges. The O3b mPOWER system opens a new world of possibilities to our customers and offers opportunities for continuous learning and development for all SES people involved on these exciting solutions.

 

Extended Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Build the Proposal and Contract Scope Documents. Directly and/or Indirectly is BM responsibility to get the proper documents done on the right time.
  • Sales Main Interface. Proactively participate in closing key sales opportunities driving the O3b mPOWER sales funnel for SES mPower
  • Orchestrate Bid Team.  Utilize O3b mPOWER knowledge and business expertise across sales, solutions engineering, commercial management, legal and other required areas to ensure strategic proposals, term sheets and contracts are developed to align with customer needs and are presented clearly and concisely with maximum impact
  • Capture and communicate learned best practices and processes in documented procedures and assets to create a continuous improvement of the Bid Management Process.

Competencies & Experience

 

  • 10 or more years’ experience in Solutions Engineering (SE) and/or Product roles
  • Preferred 5 or more years’ experience in Sales roles (in Addition to the 10 + Years in SE/Product)
  • Experience selling to key Telco/MNOs, large Enterprises and/or Government 
  • Proven Experience working with Satellite Operators, Satellite Equipment Vendors and Satellite Service Providers
  • Experience working with EMEA, Africa and MECA markets as a preference
  • In depth technical experience and competence in understanding satellite and ground systems technologies, data networking principles, and data network operations
  • In depth knowledge of business process and risk mitigation. Proven Leadership of complex projects/proposals/processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and Confidence to engage and influence at all levels and areas of the organization. Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills. Ability to express commercial and technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Excellent leadership in working with stakeholders in large organizations. Manage the work between many company areas to consolidate the best proposal in minimal possible time.

Qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Telecommunications preferred)
  • Master’s Degree or MBA preferred (Business and/or Finance)
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Fluency in English, additional languages (French /Spanish) as high value
