Manager, Capacity Planning (O3b mPOWER)

The Manager, Asset Management is a key member of the Asset Management & CTP (AM) team, it's main field of responsibilities being to manage and proactively contribute to the integration of new customers and/or products into the ground-breaking O3b mPOWER constellation, so this entails in-depth knowledge of each customer’s technical and commercial requirements as well as the technical characteristics and capabilities of the innovative O3b mPOWER constellation including the Product Offering. In this position you will be independently identifying the best alternate scenarios to facilitate sales deals that may not otherwise be possible due to lack of suitable resources and optimize the satellites and gateway resources based on the commercial opportunities and products characteristics, this is why it would be very helpful if you had a broad perspective within the context of GEO/MEO multi-orbit planning landscape and Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) architecture for the planning approach. 


You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Management of day-to-day activities for satellite and gateway resources of O3b mPOWER through the innovative Next Generation Capacity Planning and Optimisation tool and any other interim planning tools within the over-arching SES network architecture in both short and long-term timeframes. This includes:

o    advise on resources availability for O3b mPOWER constellation and approve resources
o    proactive analysis of O3b mPOWER constellation resources reconfiguration
o    proactive approach to resolving any identified potential contention for O3b mPOWER constellation and gateways to determine if there are alternative SES fleet resources that can meet the needs of all involved customers to maximize SES’s revenue

  • Continued development of Asset Management processes for allocating, managing and reporting O3b mPOWER resources within overall Asset Management planning perspective:

o    proactively advise on process enhancements to fulfil AM tasks within the Lead-to-order and Order-to-fulfilment CRM flows
o    contribute to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system requirements

  • Leads the development of Asset Management requirements for O3b mPOWER related resources management and optimization tools. In particular:

o    contribute to the overall development of mPower planning tool including strategic and innovative, overarching Fleet resources planning capabilities such as ARC Fleet Manager and any other planned networks automations
o    Lead and drive automated resources availability reporting scheme for O3b mPOWER and contribute to the development of Bandwidth Bulletin and Capacity Analytics dashboards, which are the tools used by Sales on daily basis as a first insight into what inventory they have to sell

  • As part of Emergency Response Team contribute to the AM input to complex (e.g., s/c failure, gateway failure) contingency and restoration activities. 





1. Must Have

  • Engineering bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) or demonstrable equivalent work experience in lieu of formal qualifications
  • 5-7 years professional experience with 3 or more years in capacity management and/or optimization of satellite or terrestrial networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, R, Excel/VBA and/or MATLAB


2. Nice to Have

  • Technical knowledge of platform technologies, satellite technology, satellite network operations and earth stations
  • Good understanding of CRM and financial tools
  • Experience with PowerBI
