(Senior) Engineer, Platforms Optimization & Yield Management

SES is looking for a (Senior) Engineer, Platforms Optimization & Yield Management to join the tenacious and motivated Asset Management (AM) team as a key pilon in co-creating and implementing the industry innovative framework for the end-to-end Yield Management for HNS and Gilat data platforms managed services including the innovative SES-17 Mobility and Fixed Data  products. In this role you will proactively advise on potential improvements within areas of focus such as: products modification, space segment optimization, third party capacity usage, platform optimization, number of gateways etc. for HNS and Gilat data platforms managed services, but also work together with the team and other departments such as AM HTS and AM Global Coverage, in order to manage the end-to-end capacity and of managed data platforms, in particular focused on HNS and Gilat data platforms and  for capacity assignments to optimize the overall use of the assets.

You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Providing feedback to Platform & Service Architecture for Infrastructure planning (ground hardware and software) or modifications / networks requirements to optimization and maximize the end-to-end yield for HNS and Gilat data platforms managed services including  the innovative  SES-17 offering
  • Analyse the Global Services on product implementation and customers provisioning to ensure successful realization of the expected yield for HNS and Gilat data platforms managed services    
  • Sign off commercial or technical change requests to proceed (refers to changes not needed for ongoing maintenance / within scope of current product offerings) e.g. change to SLA based on customer request, or technology change, more efficient use of resources etc.
  • Optimization of assignments and gateways resources to enable the Sales to meet their revenue targets
  • Resolving any identified potential contention issue to determine if there are alternative resources that can meet the needs of all involved customers to maximize SES’s revenue
  • Contribute to the Satellite Hub and other capacity and platforms reports, which are tools used by Sales on a daily basis as a first insight into what inventory they have to sell.





1. Must Have

  • Engineering bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) or demonstrable equivalent work experience in lieu of formal qualifications
  • 5 years professional experience with 3 or more years in capacity management and/or optimization of networks
  • Technical knowledge of platform technologies (HNS Jupiter 3, Gilat SE2c/SE4 and/or iDirect Velocity), satellite technology, satellite network operations and earth stations 
  • Knowledge of statistics to derive insights
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken


2. Nice to Have

  • High level of accuracy and attention to details
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Python coding experience and working experience with packages such as numpy, pandas, matplotlib or plotly
  • Databricks experience and Azure experience
