Manager, Broadcast Engineering

As a part of The Munich Playout & Content Engineering team, you will provide support and expertise for our local and remote Playout solutions. You will provide team leadership, technical oversight, support, and subject matter expertise, while also working along with the wider Global Services operational management team to give direction on broadcast technology solutions on a global scale. You will provide input on system architecture and solution design, delivering and commissioning new systems and services, as well as providing on-going support including incident follow up, problem management and change management to existing services.

As the manager, you will be a part of a cross-cultural and multi-disciplined team providing support to enable your team and your operational colleagues, to deliver excellent services. You will provide leadership, have a passion for the business with subject matter expertise in both traditional broadcast technology as well as current and emerging IP, software and cloud based solutions.

Working in close collaboration with other teams in the global business, your role will be responsible for providing world class services to our customers, delivering projects on time, and ensuring that operational issues are picked up and resolved with minimal impact. As the manager, you will also be responsible for scaling a highly skilled and efficient team in an engaging and motivating working environment.

  • Manage, lead, and develop a team of experienced Playout and Content Engineers
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the systems and workflows in your area
  • Demonstrates experience, and leads in designing, installing and maintaining traditional and IP workflows and systems
  • Leads smaller scale, or sub-projects reporting on deliverables and achieving success
  • Provides 3rd level support to Operations and is an integral part of incident management,

analysis, problem management and change management when required, leading where applicable

  • Closely collaborates with colleagues and other teams aiming for continuous service improvement
  • Maintains key vendor relationships
  • Ensures all documentation and supporting systems are kept up to date
  • Enables Operations to deliver service excellence
  • Provides support to next generation technical projects

  • Minimum of 5 years of broadcast engineering experience in a multi-channel playout facility
  • Managerial experience in a broadcast or production environment
  • Experience with leading, reporting on, and delivering projects
  • Extensive experience with, and knowledge of, SDI and IP broadcasting solutions, including Playout servers, subtitling equipment, graphics inserters, converters, and automation systems
  • Extensive knowledge, and experience with, end to end broadcasting workflows including archiving, content management and distribution
  • Very good business level English language skills
