Team Leader, Content Distribution Operations

This is a new position within the content distribution team based in Munich, Germany.  The position will provide team leadership, technical oversight, support, and subject matter expertise while also working with the wider Global Services operational management team to give direction of distribution technology on a global scale.
The team in Munich is directly responsible for aggregation and/or distribution of over 1000 channels, owned by some of the biggest content producers and broadcasters. Working in collaboration with teams across the business the role will be responsible for ensuring that Content distribution team provide a world class level of service to new and existing customers, ensuring that any projects are delivered on-time by the team and operational issues that do occur are quickly addressed and resolved first time. The team leader will also be responsible for building a highly skilled, efficient, and happy team focused on first class service delivery.

Reporting to the Global Services senior management, this role will help influence and shape the future direction and service delivery for SES’s customers, while leading the team in Munich and working with colleagues in multiple global locations.

Extended Job Description:



  • Manage and lead a team of Conten Distribution Engineers
  • Maintain expert knowledge in the Content Distribution domain
  • Demonstrable experience of designing, installing, and maintaining both traditional broadcast systems and digital IP based and OTT distribution systems
  • Lead technical sub-projects for video services implementations for individual customer or platform projects
  • Provide next-level and live event support for MCR departments
  • Work closely and collaboratively across the business to determine requirements for service and events
  • Provide OTT internet streaming support
  • Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and technology partners
  • Oversee and open RMA and tickets with vendors and manufacturers
  • Ensure all documentation and supporting systems are maintained and kept up to date

  • Minimum 5 years working in the content distribution technology domain
  • Associates degree in Engineering, Technology, or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Proficient network, IP platform, and satellite communication integration and configuration skills
  • Fluent English language skills, German language skills is considered as an asset
  • Be ready for occasional travel if required within the scope of the role
