Extended Job Description:

 

 

Primary Responsibilities/Key Result Areas:

  • Contribute to the exploration of new satellite application concepts enabling new SES products and leveraging our existing and future satellite infrastructure as well as satellite and non-satellite technologies and networks
  • Develop proof of concepts of such applications, demonstrating the feasibility of the innovative concepts proposed and preparing the ground for subsequent commercial product development for both SES Video and SES Networks
  • Explore new concepts for multimedia satellite applications and interactive services in collaboration with relevant SES teams, industrial partners, and research institutes.
  • Responsible for several hands-on in-house software development projects. Including the design of prototypes and their testing in the SES infrastructure environment.
  • Provide design and engineering review support for the development of product concepts and ensure that the designs incorporate flexibility, scalability, and reusability.
  • Contribute via detailed analysis and elaboration of requirements to RFIs for hardware and software to be developed and procured for new applications and subsequently support the resulting implementation projects
  • Develop engineering tools to support the analysis and optimization SES systems targeted by the newly proposed application
  • Maintain awareness of, study, and evaluate new techniques and components for the transmission, reception, and distribution of video, audio and data signals also about market trends, competitive and economic factors, customer requirements, standardization, licensing, and regulatory aspects
  • Deliver clear, concise, timely, and constructive contributions regarding all areas referred to above based on engineering knowledge and experience

Preferred Education & Experience (a combination of education and experience will be considered):

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Digital Communications, Digital Signal Processing, Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent
  • Min of 2.years relevant experience
  • Established experience in software developments applying IP and web technologies
  • Evidenced knowledge in virtualization technologies
  • Practical experience in setting up communication networks, preferably applied to video distribution systems
  • Proficient understanding of information technology, computing architectures, IP networking, IP protocols.
  • Good knowledge in communication system architectures, wired and wireless IP networks, digital signal processing, IT, audio-visual source coding, digital modulation, and channel coding
  • Fluency in English
  • Willingness to travel internationally
