PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 

IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States. In addition, as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while benefiting from ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.

SES – together with other consortium partners and core members – has been selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.

As the project enters its next phase, our team is expanding to support the development of future services and products enabled by the IRIS2 system. We are now seeking skilled professionals to help shape the service provisioning landscape and ensure the successful deployment of cutting-edge satellite connectivity solutions.

Role description summary

 

SES, as Consortium Lead Member of the SpaceRISE Consortium, is responsible for the implementation of IRIS2 programme. As a Project Manager Risk Management for the IRIS2 team at SES, you will support the identification and will be responsible for assessing and mitigating risks associated with the IRIS2 program. You will work closely with the technical and programmatic Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure that risks are properly managed and mitigated, and that the program remains on track to meet its objectives.

As a member of an agile project organization, you will be expected to bring a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset to a dynamic development environment. In alignment with your manager, you will work across SES departments, Consortium Members teams and with external stakeholders (e.g. EC, ESA, EUSPA, contractors) to ensure project transparency, regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Define and execute the Risk Management governance for the IRIS2 Programme
  • Obtain, analyze, and assess risks related to the IRIS2 programme, including technical, operational, and financial risks
  • Validate and communicate risk assessments to the Programme Project Managers and other stakeholders
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies as well as mitigation measures to address identified risks and release implementation plans
  • Collaborate with the Programme Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure that mitigation measures are effectively implemented and monitored
  • Support the maintenance of the Program Risk Log and track mitigation actions
  • Design reports and identify top risks, working with the Project Manager to validate and provide risk status.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field in project management, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the satellite or aerospace industry
  • Experience in managing risks as part of a larger project, preferably in a leadership role
  • Familiarity with risk management methodologies and tools, such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Risk Registers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with proficiency in a second European language preferred.

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • Eligibility for ESA/EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such a clearance
  • Willing to work at least 60% onsite from office
