Role description summary

Product Management is a key role within the company to create a product which fits to the overall company strategy, solves a customer demand and is well positioned on and recognized by the market. A product must be easily replicable at many customer project implementations to achieve profitability and needs to provide flexibility for customer specific modifications at the same time to fulfill customer specific demands.

The position holder works and collaborates closely with the Segment Market Management as well as with the technical departments.

The position holder defines new products, maintains and enhances existing products, both based on and in alignment with the SES Video strategy. He/she is responsible to identify market trends, aggregate customer requirements and guide products throughout the complete lifecycle with special focus on managing the implementation of products based on the defined requirements in time and quality and on the commercial success of the product. The role manages solution partners from a commercial and product scope point of view.


Extended Job Description:




  • Drive the product and business-planning process across cross-functional teams of the company
  • Manage product lifecycles from concept inception to release – end-to-end lifecycle management
  • Analyze consumer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships, interact with clients and business partners in close collaboration with the Segment Market Management
  • Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation
  • Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they are successfully achieved
  • Analyze how the product offering fits into an existing ecosystem to be successful on the market or develop strategies how to create such an ecosystem,
  • Develop, implement and maintain production timelines across multiple departments
  • Support the Segment Market Management in new product ideas, the development in sales strategies, and appropriate go-to-market plans
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final product development
  • Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI as well as demos and product presentations
  • Collaborate closely with all relevant internal & external partners
  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates SES and its features across primary market segments



  • Possess outstanding creativity, highly detailed nature, and the ability to help define and solve complex user interface problems
  • An outgoing personality and ability to interact excellently with clients and staff
  • Strong affinity for the digital lifestyle and zealous drive to make interactive technology better for real people
  • Possess problem-solving skills, an investigative mentality, and a proactive nature
  • Highly organized to be an excellent Information Architect
  • Excellent proactive attitude, take-charge personality, and “can-do” demeanor
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills in English (other languages an advantage)



  • Master degree in Business Administration or Engineering, or related fields
  • +3 years of product management in a technology market segment
  • Solid Broadcaster and TV Platform Operator domain, market, and technology know-how
  • Solid know-how about the video industry-specific cloud services and their advantages
  • Solid know-how of the video content distribution supply chain for linear and on-demand including knowledge of related solution components, technologies, and tools.
  • Solid understanding of managing a business based on financial key figures
  • Knowledge of multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Engineering, UX/UI, Sales, Customer Support, Finance, or Marketing; understanding of go-to-market commerce enablers (e.g. payments, loyalty, subscriptions, etc.)
  • Solid know-how about the Satellite TV industry and TV distribution market
  • Technology know-how about Satellite-based video distribution
