PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

 

IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.

SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.

The IRIS2 team enters the next project phase and there is a strong need for support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

 

You will be part of an agile project organization where a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset is required.  

You will be responsible for driving product development and supporting business strategies related to IRIS2 governmental services and MEO commercial offerings. This role involves collaborating with the SpaceRISE Consortium partners, as part of the IRIS2 Service Engineering team, to shape and maintain a unified, multi-orbit portfolio (LEO/MEO).

You will build and maintain a solid commercial portfolio and identify potential partnerships, customer segments, and technical enablers that support the commercial viability of UHF services in MEO orbit.

 

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible of : 

Governmental Product Catalog Cohesion

  • Collaborate with cross-functional and multi-company teams to unify IRIS2 governmental services across LEO and MEO orbits, creating an integrated, multi-orbit product portfolio.
  • Ensure that product definitions, feature sets, and pricing strategies are consistent, and reflect the requirements of governmental stakeholders as well as the capabilities of the IRIS2 system.

UHF Payload Business Plan (MEO Orbit)

  • Contribute to the development of the UHF payload business plan, including market demand assessments, revenue modelling, cost analyses, and strategic positioning, by building a consistent and demand-driven product catalogue.

Commercial Workshops Support (IRIS2)

  • Organize and participate in commercial workshops, ensuring clear communication of IRIS2’s capabilities and offerings.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Product teams, Finance) and external partners or clients to align commercial strategies and gather feedback.

MEO NextGen Product Catalogue Development

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive product catalogue for MEO NextGen, leveraging the existing product ideation document.
  • Integrate both SES offerings under IRIS2 and standalone commercial products, ensuring the catalogue addresses evolving market needs.

MEO NextGen Business Plan Support

  • Serve as a conduit between the finance strategy team and product development, ensuring alignment of commercial objectives, cost structures, and revenue targets.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations and market insights to refine the business plan and investment decisions.

 

YOUR PROFILE 

1 - Must have

  • Master’s degree in business administration or engineering, or related fields
  • Minimum 8 years of product management experience in a technology or satellite market segment
  • Technical and commercial understanding of government communication ecosystem and technologies, including service requirements
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision in complex environments, e.g. project or matrix organizations
  • Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing project requirements and environments
  • Ability to think strategically and align project goals with organizational objectives
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally across levels and functions
  • Ability to create and execute a product strategy
  • Highly organized to be an excellent Information Architect

 

1 - Nice to have 

  • Fluency in any other language is considered as an asset

 

Other key requirements :

 

  • The candidate must be eligible for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the “loi modifiée du 15 juin 2004 relative à la classification des pièces et aux habilitations de sécurité”, as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents
  • Willing to work at least 66% onsite from office
  • Travel as required for project realization purposes
