The UX lead gets to be at the ground floor in shaping our Innovation Hub and defining the innovation culture, methods and tools at SES. You understand the power of design, and its ability to transform customer behavior. You have a keen understanding of what it takes to deliver exceptional services, both in front of the house and behind the scenes. But most of all, you see all of this in the context of furthering our clients' core mission or business.

Extended Job Description:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Works independently and leads design teams in facilitating discovery activities to include:
  • Conducts formative and contextual user research studies to understand users' goals, needs, journeys, and pain points with respect to digital solutioning/software development.
  • Functions as a liaison between human-centered design and product development teams to ensure effective communication and knowledge transfer, and to represent the interests of the end users through the end to end process.
  • Works independently and leads design teams in prototyping, testing and evaluative research activities.
  • Applies insights from user research studies to define Minimum Viable Product (MVP) functionality, including epics and user stories, as well as operational, business, functional, technical, data, and integration requirements.
  • Conducts routine, iterative usability testing to continually improve the user experience and to inform content, information architecture, design, functionality, and accessibility. Iteratively apply insights gathered to inform design and development.
  • Builds rapport with the client by seeing assigned tasks in the context of broader strategic goals, anticipating risks, and supporting decision through well-researched, data-driven reports.
  • Use of cutting-edge technologies to influence and improve the delivery and execution of projects within the Innovation hub.
  • Independently manages time to complete assigned tasks, leads others in completing tasks, and contributes to team effort.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in design, engineering, business, or related technical discipline.
  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of graphic design, web design, UX/UI design, or Human-Centered Design (HCD) experience in an Agile delivery environment supporting incremental development of high-quality, fully tested application component every few weeks.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience eliciting requirements and synthesizing information from multiple sources to design rich customer experiences.
  • Certification from Human-Centered Design or innovation programs/training
  • Exposure and prior experience with  Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality
  • Participation in User Experience Design focused programs or training
  • Knowledge of and direct experience in developing key design artifacts including but not limited to: scoping documents, conducting understanding workshops and sessions, research plans, user personas, archetypes, journey maps, empathy maps, service blueprints, touchpoint inventories, workflow diagrams, stakeholder maps, ecosystem maps, low-fidelity (sketches, rough and ready) prototypes, high-fidelity digital prototypes (i.e. wireframes and mockups), usability tests, test scripts, functional requirements documents, and implementation plans.
  • Ability to interpret research insights into design solutions and design improvements, with an understanding of user empathy, voice of the customer, and organizational context and constraints.
  • Proficiency using design and presentation software/applications including the Adobe suite of products (i.e. Photoshop, XD, Illustrator, InDesign) or their equivalent (Axure, Sketch, InVision, etc.)
  • Comfortable interacting with key stakeholders and acting as the voice of the customer
  • Please be prepared to share samples of design artifacts
  • Willingness to travel (25%)
