SES operates Geosynchronous Orbit (GEO), Middle Earth Orbit (MEO) and High Throughput Satel-lite (HTS) satellites. We support industries including cruise lines, airlines, unmanned aerial vehicles, and humanitarian missions. In this role you will provide first-level technical support for all customer service, operation, installation, and maintenance processes at a Satellite Ground Station. You will be responsible for maintaining service availability by monitoring, operating, troubleshooting, and support-ing satellite communications equipment.
- Provide station-wide technical support for all customer service/ teleport operation, installation, and maintenance processes
- Provide station support through the planning, design, implementation, and configuration of Ground Ops systems and infrastructure.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Manage access restriction process for deliverables, services and visitors in close collaboration with all stakeholders
- Provide 24/7 on-call support and coordinate 24/7 teleport support staffing
- Oversee new Security System installation and policy compliance
- Participate in Project planning and provide local oversight of SES Team and Vendor integration activities for O3b, mPower, M&C upgrade, Gateway Services and Facilities.
- Maintain Planned Maintenance team scheduling, deferrals and records, site hard copy and company e-files
- Maintain historical and current local state and county permits as required (on premise hard copy reference and company e-files)
- • Assess, and coordinate support for time critical decisions during project installations and operational missions.
- Create and update RF drawings
- Procure or manufacture supporting electronic equipment such as discrete capability enhancements like alarms, M&C, and remote switching
- Assist the site manager in daily operations oversight and provide operational continuity in manager’s absence
- Maintain inventory, periodic reporting interface, and coordinate with Logistics for shipments
- Train employees, contractors, and other affiliates on site specific equipment and procedures
- Assess, schedule and monitor vendors on preventative maintenance and routine repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment
- Partner with engineering and program management planning by providing specifications, measurements, hardware evaluations, and environmental factors
- Perform from system to component level troubleshooting
- Oversee installation, maintenance, testing, and calibration of satellite ground operations equipment such as: cables, high power amplifiers, fiber-optic systems, frequency converters, path switching units, anten-na control systems, low-noise amplifiers, and low-noise block downconverters, basebands, digital platform systems, and waveguide assemblies
- Support Network Operations Center (NOC) calls/emails including responding to equipment, station, facility, and Monitor & Control (M&C) alarms
- Create and update documentation such as reports, schematics, procedures, diagrams, and drawings

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Min 10 years of experience in a technical environment, including customer facing roles
- Bachelor’s degree in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered)
- Proficient experience in teleport satellite ground operations systems
- Experience with satellite communications, broadband, telecommunications, digital platforms, high throughput satellites, and networking systems
- Experience fabricating solder small components, wires, and cable connectors
- Practical ability to read system block diagrams and schematics
- Ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to travel domestically up to10% of the time
- Willing and able to be on call 24x7x365 for off-hours emergencies
- Experience in network programming, and ideally M&C programming
- Cisco certification would be of advantage
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS
- Meet 99.98% teleport services and 100% of Telemetry, Tracking, and Control availability
The salary range for this full-time position is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target salary for new hires in Hawaii.Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
