Sports & Events Operator

Role Description 

As a Sports & Events Operator, you will play a key role in the global distribution of live sports and event content. You will prepare, configure, monitor, and execute sports content delivered via satellite and internet, helping ensure high-profile live broadcasts reach audiences around the world. 

Working in a fast-paced 24/7 operational environment, you will support the delivery of premium content including major international sporting events and live broadcasts. This role combines technical operations, service monitoring, customer communication, and troubleshooting, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in media distribution, satellite communications, and broadcast operations. 

Full training will be provided, with an initial learning period of approximately 6-9 months. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Configure, test, and execute sport broadcast distribution services including uplinks, downlinks, turnarounds, and fiber-based transmissions. 

  • Prepare and monitor services before and during live sports and event broadcasts. 

  • Operate and maintain broadcast, satellite, and transmission equipment to ensure reliable service delivery. 

  • Monitor signal quality and system performance, identifying and resolving technical issues in real time. 

  • Follow established operational workflows and procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 

  • Communicate effectively with customers, broadcasters, and internal teams via phone and email. 

  • Escalate issues appropriately and coordinate with technical teams to ensure service continuity. 

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of major global sporting and live event broadcasts. 

  • Maintain accurate operational records and service documentation. 

  • Participate in a 24/7 shift-based operation, including weekends and public holidays. 

 

Required Qualifications & Experience 

  • Technical education, vocational training, or initial professional experience in telecommunications, broadcasting, IT, networking, satellite communications, or a related field. 

  • Basic understanding of technical systems and troubleshooting principles. 

  • Comfortable working with computer-based systems and Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken. 

  • Ability to learn complex operational procedures and technical workflows. 

  • Availability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operational environment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous experience in broadcast operations, satellite communications, networking, telecommunications, media operations, or technical support. 

  • Familiarity with live sports, media distribution, or broadcasting environments. 

  • Experience working in shift-based operational environments. 

  • Understanding of signal transmission, video delivery, or related technologies.
