Software Business Analyst
ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
As a Technical Business Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting in the translation of business needs into clear, actionable, and technically sound requirements that development teams can implement. You will analyze existing systems and workflows, break down functional and non-functional requirements, and produce documentation such as process maps, data flows, acceptance criteria, and user documentation. In addition to supporting solution design and validating delivered features, you will also analyse incident and problem trends, reviewing root causes, recurring patterns, and system behaviours to identify where processes, requirements, or system logic need improvement. By working closely with product owners, developers, testers, architects, and the Incident Management Lead, you will help ensure that software solutions are accurate, scalable, resilient, and aligned with both user needs and operational realities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Conduct requirement analysis, ensuring clarity in business logic, data needs, and downstream impacts.
- Model processes, decision flows, and user interactions that support intuitive and usable product behaviour.
- Assist Product Owner and Architect to analyse and refine backlog items, clarify requirements, and identify dependencies.
- Support QA and developers by clarifying expected behaviours, edge cases, and business rules.
- Help validate delivered features and confirming alignment with requirements and business outcomes.
- Work with the Incident Management Lead to analyse log patterns, incident narratives, and requirement gaps that may contribute to service failures.
- Assist in defect triage when issues relate to unclear or misunderstood requirements.
- Provide contextual and analytical support during major incidents by clarifying business rules, expected behaviour, workflows, and system impacts.
- Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) by helping differentiate between requirement errors, process errors, and technical failures.
- Support operational readiness by validating whether new or updated requirements might impact stability or behaviour post-release.
- Identify recurring patterns in defects, incidents, or user feedback and translate them into actionable enhancements.
- Support updates to functional documentation, user workflows, and knowledge articles.
- Support the PO in creating workshops, discovery sessions, demos, and requirement walkthroughs.
- Communicate requirement summaries, user impacts, and analysis findings in a structured, accessible manner.
- Build strong relationships across the business and Software Center to effectively understand systems and their business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Experience as Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Product Analyst
- Hands-on experience within Scrum or Agile environments desired
- Experience writing User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and process documentation
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and modern SDLC practices
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tracking tools
- Exposure to ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change Management) is beneficial
- Certifications (IIBA, Agile BA, ITIL, Scrum) are valued
