Specialist, Fixed Assets

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Fixed Assets Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end accounting lifecycle of fixed assets, including capitalization, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliation activities in compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), company policy, and internal controls (including SOX). This role will support ongoing integration into S/4HANA, onboarding of new companies, audit compliance, and fixed asset reporting. The individual must have strong accounting acumen, a proactive compliance mindset, and a data-focused approach to ensure timely and accurate asset management across entities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

• Maintain and manage the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accurate recording of acquisitions, capitalizations, retirements, transfers, and adjustments.
• Execute monthly depreciation runs and ensure alignment with accounting standards and useful life policies.
• Perform fixed asset reconciliations (FA subledger vs GL), investigate variances, and drive timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Support fixed asset physical verification exercises and tagging in collaboration with business units.
• Ensure timely closure of Construction in Progress (CIP) and proper classification of assets as per capitalization policy.
• Review and validate asset additions against Capex approvals and ensure policy compliance before posting to the ledger.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for all asset-related activities and support both internal and external audit requirements.
• Monitor and report on SOX and internal control compliance through dashboards, identifying risks and taking corrective actions.
• Support fixed asset process design and data migration during S/4HANA integrations and onboarding of new entities.
• Collaborate with the business, project teams, and accounting to ensure timely closure of open items and smooth period-end processing.
• Manage GR/IR clearing and reconciliations, ensuring timely follow-ups with relevant teams for resolution
• Manage end-to-end lease accounting activities in compliance with IFRS 16
• Leases including initial recognition, right-of-use (ROU), asset amortization, interests, lease liabilities, and modifications.
• Prepare monthly lease accounting entries, including depreciation of ROU assets and interest accretion on lease liabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance; CA Inter or equivalent preferred.
• ERP Knowledge: Experience in S/4HANA Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module is essential.
• Accounting Standards: Familiarity with IFRS/GAAP for asset capitalization, impairment, depreciation, lease liability, ROU and interest.
• Technical Tools: Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with automation tools, scripts, or dashboarding is an added advantage.
• Work Experience: 8–10 years of relevant experience in Fixed Asset Accounting, preferably within a shared services or corporate environment with audit exposure.
