Change & Release Engineer

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The incumbent is responsible for managing the change and release process and ensuring that software releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality. This role involves developing and implementing change and release management processes and procedures, collaborating with cross-functional teams including development, QA, operations and external software vendors, and managing the release schedule to meet business objectives. Additionally, the role requires experience in AI-driven techniques to help automatic release procedures and check dependencies across integrated releases.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Coordinate code deployments/configuration over multiple environments including test environments with internal and external parties.
  • Be the central hub for configuration and release topics, for multiple projects.
  • Maintain configuration documentation for all environments.
  • Communicate with support manager, test managers, third party developers, project and program managers
  • Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected.
  • Track the progress and find issues and propose solutions.
  • Communicate risks and issues with project and program teams.
  • Create plans/playbooks for the implementation and deployment as per the production release schedule.
  • Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities at a project/program level
  • Make sure that the release is planned, according to the requirements and budget.
  • Manage and align the release schedule and resources required depending upon the third-party applications, defect backlogs, planned releases, and infrastructure updates.
  • Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully. (Dress rehearsals/release playbooks/Go/No go meeting management)
  • Maintain documentation related to procedures on configuration, release, notifications lists, and dependencies.
  • Make improvements in the methodologies used for configuration and release management.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Perform other tasks as required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Release or Change Manager or similar role
  • Project management or Coordination experience and leadership skills
  • Extensive experience in complex environments (Telco/Satellite preferred)
  • Experience with configuration management tools: Azure DevOps, Github, JIRA, etc
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines
  • Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Experience in ITIL configuration management
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience in the use of application release automation tools.
  • Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
  • Experience with AI technologies and their application in the release and change management processes is a plus
  • Experience in integrating AI solutions into existing frameworks.
  • Experience with Amdocs products is a plus
