(Senior) Engineer, Media Terminal / Gateway Hardware Architect
ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The incumbent will contribute to the development of terminal and gateway hardware for end-user access to satellite delivered services. These terminals will include both RF satellite reception antennas and frontends as well as digital backends and interface with local IP networks.
The incumbent will collaborate with other internal stakeholders as well as with partners on the overall definition and life cycle of the satellite terminal/gateway hardware.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Design Product Hardware and Manufacturing
- Define Hardware Requirements, Architecture and Project Plans for PoCs
- Support Hardware lead partners on all design aspects and issues
- Identify components and their alternatives. Create validation plans to mitigate risk of obsolescence for products
- Manage the eBOM and understand the product cost makeup.
- Responsible for hardware testing and qualification
- Work with Software teams on device bring-up and development
- Review and build test plans to support the approval of changes to designs

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in electronic and electrical engineering
- Minimum 5 years of related experience
- Solid understanding of Digital and Analog Circuit designs and Digital Communications design.
- Hardware design experience on consumer electronics devices
- Knowledge of modern schematic design tools, CAD PCB layout and design simulations.
- Excellent understanding of computer hardware and networking. Experience with test scripts and test automation
- Knowledge of chipsets used for TV, Broadcast and Streaming
- Design for Cost and Design for Manufacturing experience
- Familiar with the use of basic Analog and Digital test equipment. Familiar with FPGA and Controller programming and debug.
- Experience at bringing up, debugging, testing, validating and optimizing systems
- Knowledge of EMC and RF testing
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS
- Occasional travel required
