Role Description Summary:

You will write and edit, according to SES standards, highly detailed technical documentation based upon source material from a variety of engineering and operational sources, Be responsible for creating a documentation library, defining format and media able to be rapidly accessed, understood, and consumed by time-pressured operational personnel, Design documentation around job role personas enabling rapid consumption without overburdening detail.

You will Own and organize each repository used, Be responsible for Configuration Management (CM) and ownership of the CM process.

Organize the technical library to make user document retrieval as efficient as possible.

You will create a program plan to ensure all documents are reviewed and approved by subject matter experts before publication.

Train new employees in document processes, configuration management, and template usage.

Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to ensure a content-rich and smooth flow of base material

Approve, set, and assign work for Global Services technical writers

Primary Responsibilities/Key Result Areas:

  • Edit, format, and process CM releases querying operations staff when necessary. 
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of operational documentation.
  • Produce electronic documentation.
  • Edit documents to maintain continuity of style of content in conjunction with SES branding and styles.
  • Manage updates and revisions to operational documentation.
  • Follow company and hardware/software industry documentation standards and requirements.
  • Attend project meetings to discuss, progress, and report technical writing tasks and recommendations to improve organization and management of documentation
  • On-time delivery of operational documentation to meet implementation timelines and standards.
  • SharePoint Repository management

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal command of the English language
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or similar field required. Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering/technical discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of technical editing/writing experience required 
  • Advanced experience creating hardware/software documentation and related project documentation required
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Visio) applications
