ROLE DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for editing and writing detailed technical documentation from various engineers (RF, Maritime, etc.) according to SES standards. This role primarily involves publishing, editing, and formatting, with occasional technical writing based on business needs and applicant qualifications.
This Analyst, Technical Documentation role requires to have previous experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, Visio, and SharePoint, exhibiting an SME-level understanding of creating Microsoft Word styles, formatting and templates, and SharePoint site construction, editing, and troubleshooting, as well as SP documentation best practices.
You will also manage functions of the Engineering & Operations Managed Documentation library, including SharePoint groups, permissions, vendor permissions and NDAs, and external users. Finally, you will receive Priority Technology Documentation Requests from other SES groups and will be consulted regarding project scope, available resources, and prioritization scheduling.
This position will help engineering staff succeed in their fast-paced product releases by providing documentation to internal and external stakeholders and customers.
As an Analyst, Technical Documentation, you will be responsible for :
- Technical editing, publishing, and distribution list management, in an engineering environment.
- Maintain a library of Project technical documentation in SharePoint. Release documents, manage the Documentation Library, and distribute to internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Execute revisions to technical documentation, updating templates, managing distribution lists, providing CM, Word, and SharePoint training.
- Maintain and enforce guidelines, policies, and/or procedures for CM documentation and Export Compliance.
- Track external access to the Managed Documentation SharePoint Site and take any needed actions to protect SES data, often working with Legal and Internal Audit on Export Compliance. This includes Vendors, Field Engineering contractors and Space and Defense users.
- Ensure all documentation is marked consistently and appropriately for Export Compliance and Vendor Proprietary statements.
- Maintaining the Engineering & Operations documentation team space in Azure DevOps with the responsibility to administrate boards, queries, dashboards, work items’ process and reporting.
- Produce electronic documentation in Microsoft Word and SharePoint, as well as in wiki, knowledge base or other web-based/digital formats.
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content in conjunction with SES branding and styles
- Define and follow company and hardware/software industry documentation standards and requirements.
- Liaise and collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Service Delivery, NOC and Operations team members to develop required content, and changes to documentation including Change Management
- Manage progress against technical documentation, project/documentation timelines and provide recommendations to engineering teams to improve organization and management of documentation.
YOUR PROFILE
1 – MUST HAVE
- Four-year degree required in English or Communications with Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline preferred.
- Experience creating hardware/software and testing documentation and related project documentation.
- Experience developing and delivering end user training materials.
- Proficiency with common office productivity software (e.g., MS Word, Visio, SharePoint, etc.)
- Previous experience and advanced ability to create wiki/library content in tools such as Confluence, Azure DevOps (ADO) and knowledge base.
- Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- A proven ability to be decisive, resolve issues and deliver on commitments and deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a dynamic, high energy, fast-paced environment.
- Organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
2 – Nice to have
- Experience with Power Automate is desirable.
