Are you a seasoned sales professional looking to dive into an unparalleled opportunity in the defence and government sphere? SES is eager to expand our foothold in the Australian and Pacific defence market by having a Sales Manager on the ground. You may be the expert we’re looking for.

 

As the Sales Manager, your mission will be to identify, develop, close and manage Defence, Security & Institutions (“DSI”) business opportunities and related programs in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. You will manage new and existing DSI customers, actors, service providers and government actors (Ministries, Agencies, Programs…). You will directly influence and close additional major deals with relevant key government players directly or indirectly via leading telecom operators, service and solutions providers, system manufacturers and other players in the region.

Extended Job Description:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

 

  • Responsible for identifying, developing, closing and managing new DSI business opportunities in the region
  • Meet and overachieve on yearly revenue and backlog objectives; previous experience in annually closing new sales of at least USD 5.0 million
  • Follow and lead SES actions in context of larger government programs as well as relevant commercial opportunities with the aim of ensuring customer satisfaction and maintain revenue
  • Play a key role in constructing ‘go-to-market’ strategies in the DSI sector with demonstrable experience of direct and indirect lobbying and selling
  • Develop and manage a high-level network of senior government officials within the targeted sector and maintain a good knowledge of the market, policies, government trends, and competitors
  • Strive to understand the DSI customer requirements and needs, and develop keen insights that can help the DSI customer to improve their business

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Experience selling complex connectivity solutions using a combination of satellite/terrestrial and governmental services to governments, defence agencies or actors and/or institutions directly or through relationships with other entities
  • Entrepreneurial spirit – ability to tackle projects head-on and own the sales process
  • Strategic hunter with diplomatic skills in overall governmental environment
  • Expert of Australian and New Zealand DSI government, defence and institutional environments with a solid network of high-level contacts
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time, domestically and internationally

 

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

 

  • Preference for Australian national, with existing links into Australian governmental and institutional environment in DSI segment
  • Canberra-based or east coast of Australia, prepared to travel regularly to Canberra
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Australian Defence Satellite Communication System JP9102 tender and related Australian government and defence environment
