ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

This role is part of the European Programmes organisation with the primary purpose to establish the partnerships and develop the business necessary for the EU Secure Connectivity Programme and other Space Programmes of the European Commission and ESA.

 

The job contributes to the value of the company by ensuring the partnerships and necessary development of the business to win the European Commission’s tender for the EU Secure Connectivity Programme and deploy the programme. The company will need to enter into cooperation with existing European space distribution partners, manufacturers, downstream players and in particular start-ups, so that the company’s proposal to the European Commission fulfils the strategic ambitions of the programme.

 

Extended Job Description:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

 

  • Define and execute the SES partnership strategy for the EU Secure Connectivity programme in alignment with the team and in particular the bid strategy of the company’s proposal towards the European Commission
  • Identify, develop and recommend partnerships with start-ups which align with the bid strategy from a business, technology and supply perspective
  • Manage a high degree of complexity in a new field of business, aligning interests of multiple stakeholders with the goal to enter into successful partnerships and cooperations with the European Space Eco-system
  • Lead the negotiations for cooperation agreements and partnerships while keeping a balance between the need for cooperation, applicable international business law, the requirements and evaluation criteria of the tender, the interest of the European space players, the technology requirements derived from the bid strategy and the development of a business context for the programme that enables confidence in its commercial success
  • Work within broad guidelines defined by the team’s bid strategy and the requirements of the tender process
  • Develop business relationships in and outside the EU-27 to ensure the programme can be commercialised, including distribution partners and possibly anchor customers
  • Achieve a high score in the evaluation criteria from the customer, for start-up participation in the SES proposal for the EU Secure Connectivity Programme

  • Ability to assess, evaluate and synthetise complex situations and provide recommendations for course of action
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, as well as in a collaborative and changing environment
  • Ability to create solutions for any problems and being open for the ideas of others, including external partners
  • Ability to develop relationships with external organizations, public and private
  • Ability to set priorities and dependable about delivering within time frame

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Master’s degree
  • 10 years of professional experience of which 5+ in an international business development function
  • UpToDate knowledge in international business rules and competition law
  • Previous experience in:
    • business development and agreement negotiations
    • business with public entities or tender processes
    • relations and activities with start-ups or partners
  • Extensive experience in negotiating partnership agreements
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; other European languages are considered an asset
