Technician, Network Cabling

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Network Cabling Technician's daily responsibilities encompass the execution and maintaining of a proper SES Network patching, but also providing excellent customer service and 1st level support on network connections, conference room equipment and room reservation system. Therefore, in this position you will be responsible for installing and maintaining the network cables that connect computers, servers, routers, switches, etc. to one another, as also the installation of rack mounted devices.
You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):
Patch-room related Facility Management
• Installing network cabling infrastructure such as patch panels, cables, and fibers to support new or existing computer networks
• Optimize, exploit, manage and maintain floor management: planning, installing, racking, stacking and cabling (UTP, Fiber and Coaxial) of IT equipment in 19-inch computer cabinets
• Maintaining network equipment such as routers, switches, and hubs to ensure they are functioning properly
• Troubleshooting network problems by identifying the cause of glitches and recommending solutions
• Installing and maintaining computer networks including LANs (Local Area Networks) and WANs (Wide Area Networks) or fiber optic cable for telephone or internet service
• Create and maintain an up-to-date network cabling documentation including ‘how to use and update DCIM platform’
• Ability to read, edit and create technical plans in a CAD type software oriented to drawing and modeling in 2D and 3D
• Is responsible for the liaison between IT Operations and End-users
• Prioritize, maintain and complete autonomously SNOW incident reports, requests or projects accurately and timely.
General Facility Management (as back-up)
• Identify and resolve AV (Audio/Video) equipment malfunctions, isolate problems, and make equipment substitutions, but also perform updates, removals, simple repairs and replacements
• Support in technical handling of large-scale events in Betzdorf’s “Multi-Purpose Center” (MPC)
• Assembly and disassembly of conference setups and change room arrangements, including tables, chairs and stages in accordance with the schedule of events
• Installs and maintains and operates audio/visual equipment including display devices, projectors, televisions, camera systems, video teleconferencing systems (VTC), microphones and speakers
YOUR PROFILE:
Must Have
- Graduated as Technician or equivalent (or experience of 5 years in the Networking & Audio/Video field)
- Expertise in Network installation, on how to install network jacks, patch panels and other hardware
- Knowledge of Cable Management: Technical installation, as also visual organization to ensure no interference occurs, including know-how in coiling and taping cables, as well as how to route them through walls and other obstacles
- Reading and interpreting diagrams and schematics to ensure proper network installation
- Experience in multi-tasking coordination in a large-scale, international context
- Confident with computers, all Microsoft Office package, CAD software and A/V equipment
- Fluency in English

- Familiar with electronic measuring tools for Networking and cabling
- Communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with both customers and colleagues
- Ability to work in autonomy and in a team
