Team Leader, Facilities Operations

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Team Lead, Facilities Operations, is responsible for guiding the Facilities Operations team, including SES employees and external service providers, in delivering high quality, compliant services at SES’s Luxembourg headquarters and some locations in Europe. The role ensures operational continuity, on-site leadership, service provider supervision, and effective coordination of daily FO activities in line with SES standards and procedures.


This position provides day-to-day leadership and operational direction, supporting workload distribution, reinforcing decision-making capabilities, and sustaining team engagement and performance.

 


Additionally,the role provides dedicated support for the integration and management of Real Estate activities worldwide, assisting in the oversight of SES properties, lease agreements, and related financial tracking, especially in the context of the Intelsat integration.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Team Management

  • Provide daily leadership, guidance and coaching to the Facilities Operations team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive working environment
  • Encourage team participation, value individual input, and promote a positive, respectful, and high-productive culture within the team
  • Act as a liaison between the Luxembourg Facilities Operations team and the Senior Manager, providing regular operational updates and recommendations
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for vendors, contractors and service providers, ensuring prompt and effective communication
  • Collaborate with global Real Estate, Procurement, and Finance teams to align on processes and data accuracy

 

Facilities and Property Management (Luxembourg and Support to Global Sites)

  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of SES Luxembourg facilities, including maintenance, vendor coordination, catering, general services, AV Systems, etc
  • Oversee and support facility-related projects, such as refurbishments, waste management, space management, and overall site improvements
  • Monitor performance of service providers, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, service-level agreements, and quality standards
  • Support the Senior Manager and the direction in Real Estate and lease management activities worldwide, including market analysis, lease administration, contract renewals, and coordination with external partners
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of leases and financial commitments, ensuring proactive follow-up and consistency across SES locations
  • Provide operational support to other Facilities teams across SES sites, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices
  • Reviews working practices to identify and improve efficiency, productivity and quality potential improvements in systems and processes

Financial Support & Real Estate

  • Support budget preparation and financial follow-up for Luxembourg facilities and assigned projects
  • Coordinate with external contractors and internal stakeholders to support lease discussions, contract reviews, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Provide analytical and administrative support to ensure accurate tracking of lease-related costs, renewals, and financial commitments
  • Contribute to the oversight of Real Estate activities worldwide, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of market conditions and supporting consistent internal and external management of SES lease and facilities

 

 

 

Strategic Workplace Planning

  • Support the Senior Manager in the implementation of workplace policies, standards, and operational objectives in line with SES’s global strategy and ESG goals
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to coordinate space management, internal moves, ergonomics, and workplace optimization
  • Support the design of all facilities projects at global level to guarantee the application of the same look and feel in every new office internationally

Environmental & Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with SES’s Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental (QSHE) Policy directives to ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly working environment for all employees
  • Support ESG team to identify and support the implementation of ESG value creation initiatives and ESG polices
  • Contribute to the integration of environmental and sustainability issues into policies, rules, services, and operations

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong people management skills including team building, tasks delegation and staff coaching/supervision, in a culturally diverse and remote set-up organization
  • Strong operational and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proven problem-solving ability and proactive mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to identify and effectively implement change
  • Good understanding of Real Estate markets, lease terms, and contract interpretation to support global asset and lease management decisions

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years of relevant Facilities Operations experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience required; Master’s preferred
  • Experience working in multinational or complex infrastructure is an asset
  • Proven experience in MS office tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and in CAD software
  • Fluency in written and oral English. (French or German considered an advantage)

 

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Ensure continuity and efficiency of daily operations at the Luxembourg headquarters
  • Provide operational support and reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Operations
  • Strengthen internal control of Real Estate and lease management activities worldwide
  • Deliver accurate financial and operational data for management review
  • Contribute to the achievement of SES’s operational excellence, compliance, and sustainability goals
