PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
meoSphere is SES’s next-generation Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite constellation, designed to deliver secure connectivity services to government agencies, enterprises, and commercial customers. It will also provide high-speed broadband internet to eliminate global connectivity dead zones.
To accelerate development timelines, reduce costs, and ensure quality, SES is internalizing a critical segment of the satellite supply chain: the final integration of partner satellite platforms with SES’s software-defined payloads, all within a cutting-edge manufacturing and test facility.
ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) is responsible for establishing, scaling and continuously improving the agile operating model across the meoSphere programme. Reporting to the VP Programme Management, the Senior RTE serves as the programme level agile leader, coach and facilitator, enabling globally distributed Integrated Product Teams to adopt SAFe-like agile practices and deliver effectively at scale. The role works closely with Agile Technical Program Managers, Technical Leads and meoSphere programme leadership to drive Programme Increment planning, agile execution, continuous improvement, cross-team dependency management, and organisational transformation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Lead the implementation, adoption and continuous evolution of agile-at-scale practices across the meoSphere programme.
- Develop, maintain and enhance the programme agile operating model, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and delivery needs.
- Plan, facilitate and coordinate Programme Increment (PI) Planning events and key agile ceremonies across the programme.
- Coach Agile Technical Program Managers, Technical Leads and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in agile principles, planning, execution and continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain agile metrics, dashboards and reporting to provide transparency into delivery performance, predictability and programme health.
- Identify, escalate and drive resolution of systemic impediments impacting multiple teams, segments or programme objectives.
- Drive cross-team coordination, dependency management and alignment to support integrated programme delivery.
- Facilitate Inspect & Adapt workshops, retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives across the programme.
- Support agile tooling, standards, training and onboarding to promote consistent ways of working.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility of programme agility, delivery performance, delivery risks and improvement opportunities.

- Systems Thinking. Understands programme-wide interdependencies, integration points and the impact of decisions across teams and workstreams.
- Communication. Communicates clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, providing visibility into progress, risks and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications Background and Experience
- Typically 8+ years of experience implementing Agile delivery within large, complex technical programmes, including experience scaling Agile practices across multiple teams.
- Experience within aerospace, space, telecommunications, defence, software, or similarly complex engineering environments.
- Experience facilitating large-scale planning, coordination, and alignment activities involving multiple stakeholders.
- Understanding of systems engineering, programme delivery, integration activities, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) operating models.
- Experience working with geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated coaching, facilitation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Experience leading Agile transformations or Agile-at-scale adoption initiatives.
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), or equivalent Agile-at-scale certification.
- PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, Scrum, or equivalent programme/project management certification.
- Knowledge of satellite communications, space systems, and complex systems engineering programmes.
- Experience with Agile planning, collaboration, and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS
- The candidate must be eligible for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the national regulations as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents
- Willing to work 60% onsite from office
- Travel as required for project realization purposes
