Senior Manager, Software Solution Engineering

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Software Solutions Engineering is managing the team of software engineers delivering state of the art software solution to our external and internal customers in areas of quantum communication, emergency relief and satellite navigation and communication to deliver on Techcom’s revenue growth and profitability targets. 
In this position you will contribute to the identification of opportunities, proposal preparation and to contract negotiation and take ownership for the contractual delivery of software projects.

You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

• Manage a team of highly skilled software solutions engineers delivering software solutions for internal and external customers in the domain of space-based communication
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach software solutions engineers at different levels of experience
• Lead the development, deployment, and integration of software solutions 
• Manage and execute against software development project plans and deliver commitments within a professional, high paced engineering environment
• Support the attraction of new business by leading the software solutions elements for various Request for Proposal (RFP) phases like preparations, handover, proposal, and contract negotiations
• Interface with our internal/external customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress
• Work closely with System Architecture team on identifying and applying synergies between different projects and establishing the integrated software development environment
• Coordinate the setup of budgets, procurements, integrations, installations, and handovers
• Establish software engineering best practices and drive their implementation and improvements
• Provide recommendation aiming at continuously improving SES Techcom perspectives of development, effectiveness, and growth

YOUR PROFILE:

Must Have

• Master’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 6 years of applicable working experiences related to software development and/or software solutions implementation with 3 years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience in leading or managing diverse software development teams, involving multiple external parties (suppliers, contractors, subcontractors)
• Software development background including design patterns, data structures, and test-driven development
• Knowledge of mainstream programming languages (C/C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc) and Agile methodologies (Kanban and/or SCRUM)
• Experience partnering with product, service and program management teams
• Fluency in English (any other language is considered as an asset)
• Be willing to travel internationally 
• Willingness to enroll in the clearance process
