Location(s):

Betzdorf, LU

Senior MES IT Lead

Role Summary

The MES Functional & Technical Lead is responsible for the functional ownership, technical administration, and security governance of the Manufacturo Manufacturing Execution System (MES) during implementation and operational phases. This role acts as the primary MES authority bridging Manufacturing, Quality, IT, and external implementation partners.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Administer the Manufacturo MES daily: user provisioning, roles and permissions, and configuration changes within the admin scope.
  • Provide L1 support to MES users across the shop floor, engineering, and quality, including ticket triage and structured troubleshooting.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with MES support: file well-formed tickets, track escalations, and follow up on releases and change requests.
  • Monitor integration between MES and adjacent systems (ERP, PLM): inspect logs, identify failed messages, and coordinate fixes with internal teams or the vendor.
  • Train new users and maintain SOPs, quick reference guides, and other internal documentation.
  • Support change management around platform releases and configuration updates: communicate what is changing, who is affected, and when.
  • Over time, take ownership of reports, scripts, integrations and other customizations in coordination with the vendor and internal IT.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Background in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality, or production IT, with working knowledge of work orders, routings, traceability, and nonconformance.
  • Hands-on experience administering a business application: user provisioning, roles and permissions, ticket triage, and structured troubleshooting using tools such as Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or Zendesk.
  • Comfortable working alongside at least one ERP system (SAP - preferred, NetSuite, Business Central, Oracle, Epicor, or similar).
  • Basic technical literacy for integration support: able to read JSON and XML payloads, inspect logs, identify failed messages, and recognize common failure patterns such as authentication errors, missing master data, or schema mismatches.
  • Willingness and aptitude to grow into a more technical role over time, taking ownership of customizations. Some prior exposure to coding or query languages is expected, even if not at production level.
  • Awareness of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality system principles and traceability discipline.
  • Strong written English and the ability to communicate clearly with both shop-floor operators and office users.
  • Comfortably preparing SOPs, quick guides, and delivering hands-on training to mixed audiences.
  • Service mindset: patient with users, structured under pressure, and disciplined about documenting lessons learnt.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • Min 3 years in MES or manufacturing systems experience
  • Proven experience owning system configuration and postimplementation support.
  • Good English language skills (written and verbal)
