(Senior) Engineer, Satellite Manufacturing - Process
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Engineer – Process is responsible for defining, developing, validating, and continuously improving manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable production. This role focuses on process capability, stability, and performance across the manufacturing lifecycle, from process design and industrialization through series production and continuous improvement. The engineer works closely with production, quality, design, and supply chain teams to ensure processes meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
As a Senior Engineer, Satellite Manufacturing – Process, you will be responsible to :
- Define, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, yield, quality, safety, and cost
- Lead or support process industrialization activities, including process flow definition, line balancing, and capacity planning
- Develop and maintain process documentation such as process flows, work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs
- Establish and validate process capability through trials, DOE, and statistical analysis (SPC, Cp/Cpk)
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation solutions, and waste reduction initiatives
- Support production operations by troubleshooting process-related issues and implementing corrective actions
- Collaborate with quality teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards, customer requirements, and regulatory constraints
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by defining and validating manufacturing processes and pilot builds
- Analyze production data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Support change management activities related to process updates, tooling, and documentation
- Drive standardization and digitalization of manufacturing processes and industrial data
COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Strong understanding of industrial automation, controls engineering, and manufacturing systems
- Knowledge of robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, vision systems, and industrial networks
- Experience with system integration, commissioning, and validation
- Strong understanding of manufacturing process engineering, industrialization, and process control
- Knowledge of high-reliability or regulated manufacturing environments (e.g. aerospace, defense, electronics, medical)
- Proficiency in process documentation, validation methodologies, and quality tools (PFMEA, SPC, DOE)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and production requirements
- Data-driven problem-solving and structured root-cause analysis skills
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- 2–4 years in manufacturing or process engineering
- Hands-on experience developing and optimizing manufacturing processes
- Experience with ERP/MES systems and manufacturing data analysis
- Familiarity with CAD, PLM, and industrial engineering tools
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous improvement frameworks
- Experience with ESD, safety, and controlled manufacturing environments is a plus
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Eligibility for ESA/EU/NATO/National SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such clearance
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams
- Structured and proactive approach to managing process risks and improvements
- Willingness to work at least 60% onsite from office
