Senior Engineer, IRIS2 MEO Space CONOPS
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States. In addition, as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while benefiting from ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.
SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by the European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.
The IRIS2 team enters next project phases, we seek and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The IRIS2 MEO space CONOPs senior engineer oversees defining the concept of operations for the IRIS2 MEO space segment. The role implies the interaction with multiple teams within SES, directly or indirectly involved in the IRIS2 project. It also implies interaction with IRIS2 partners.

- Define the concept of operations for the IRIS2 MEO space segment, applicable to both the EU sovereign services and the SES commercial services.
- Describe the end-to-end CONOPs of the IRIS2 MEO space segment, in mutual coherence with the ground segment CONOPs and user segment CONOPs. Provide a detailed description of each subsystem and their operations. Describe communication protocols between subsystems.
- Develop systemic overview, including objectives, configuration, and expected performance metrics.
- Leverage system architecture definitions to detail interactions between the space segment, ground segment, and user segment.
- Identify and describe all operational scenarios, covering different mission phases and contingency operations. Describe daily and periodic operational procedures.
- Define roles and responsibilities for operations, mapped to existing or new teams within SES.
