ROLE DESCRIPTION

 

IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.

SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.

The IRIS2 team enters next project phases and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.

 

In your analyst role, you are working as part of the IRIS2 Finance Team and are responsible for planning and managing the reporting and analysis activities for the IRIS2 Programme, both from an overall project perspective and for the SES scope. The role has specific responsibility for providing financial transparency to IRIS2 Programme leader, SES Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and includes reporting to external parties such as grantors and consortium partners. You are responsible for the preparation of Forecast, Budget and Business Plan of the programme and the SES scope and you are a key contributor to the month end closing process. You are contributing to the internal management reporting, SES BoD reporting and for SES external results publication.

You will work in an agile project organization where a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset is required.  

 

Eligibility for ESA/EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. As a financial analyst, you will be responsible to:

  • Provide support to SES Finance, Sales, P&I Departments as well as on programme level to Consortium and IRIS2 Finance team on all financial Matters
  • Develop key metrics to measure the financial performance of IRIS2 project and operations
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and reporting of OpEx and CapEx across all project levels, providing the responsible parties with objective advice around optimal resource allocation and strategic priority alignment. This reporting is contributing to the SLT Business Reports, SES BoD reporting packages and SLT Financial Performance Review, Consortium reporting packages, Programme leader reporting and management reporting packages for grantors
  • Provide support and guidance to Financial Operations & Controlling to ensure accurateness of financial figures for complete Programme
  • Key contributor to the internal process to deliver the planning documents for the Consortium ICSB and SES SLT and Board meetings
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis on specific areas
  • Develop and drive automation of reporting within the Programme

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

1 - MUST HAVE

  • University degree with finance qualification and background, MBA, CA or equivalent preferred
  • Technically competent from a financial perspective (chartered accountant or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar financial role
  • Demonstrable knowledge and expertise in use and development of finance IT tools
  • Proven experience of meeting tight deadlines and track record in project management
  • Front-end experience of being involved in finance support
  • Understanding of full flow of finance cycles
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
