ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

The Sales and Business Development Manager is responsible for business development and sales activities with a focus on Civil and Institutional projects in the Government & Institution domain. You will lead the identification and acquisition of project or service opportunities, the management of proposals, the negotiation and the acquisition of contracts as well as acquiring and securing national and international funding to facilitate complex projects.

Furthermore, you have the purpose to establish European partnerships and develop business opportunities necessary for European space programmes of the European Commission, European agencies and ESA, in the area of GovSatCom, Quantum Communication Infrastructure, Navigation and Emergency Disaster Response.

 

Extended Job Description:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

 

  • Lead bid proposal answer preparation and ensure the coordination with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams together with external partners or suppliers
  • Screen, identify and qualify new business opportunities and capture new direct customers
  • Lead business development activities related to the domains of GovSatCom, Quantum Communication Infrastructure, Navigation and Emergency Disaster Response
  • Meet and overachieve revenues and backlog objectives
  • Closely collaborate with relevant internal and external stake holders to develop the ecosystem for the immediate and future benefits of SES
  • Take ownership of European Institutional customers and business opportunities and actively promote SES solutions and expertise in that field
  • Identify new business ideas, develop associated business cases and propose development strategies
  • Interface with Government representatives (Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany as example), supranational organizations (ESA, EUSPA, European Commission) while promoting new products & services solutions
  • Constantly screen the markets and tendering channels on relevant industry trends and feedback customer and market requirements into the organisation, with a particular focus on European Institutions business

  • Strategic thinker able to interpret and develop long-term strategy through definition and delivery of business plans to grow and feed the opportunity funnel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), ability to interact with partners at all levels
  • Able to interact with ease, confidence, diplomacy and credibility at all levels and build and maintain strong relationships within and outside of the company
  • Ability to negotiate and conclude under pressure complex agreements of strategic importance with a high level of outcome uncertainty
  • Ability to lead and manage cross functional large bid teams, including external partners and suppliers
  • Proactive approach towards potential customers to build and lobby for projects
  • Excellent project management skills, being methodology proficient
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Master’s degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Electronics or equivalent and/or MBA / Business Management Degree
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the Satellite Telecommunications or Data Communications Industry, in connection with governments or public institutions
  • Experience in the management of highly complex bid and projects in both the commercial and institutional environment
  • Fluency in English; any other language is considered as an asset
  • Eligibility to work under the EU/NATO/ESA security requirements
