PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation.  This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States. In addition, as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while benefiting from ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.

 

SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by the European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.

The IRIS2 team enters next project phases, we seek and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

  • The Programme Tools Implementation Project Manager is responsible for the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of the programme management toolset.
  • The role ensures that tools supporting planning, risk, change, reporting, and document management are properly configured, integrated, and maintained, enabling consistent and reliable use across all programme segments.
  • The role requires strong project management expertise to understand programme workflows endtoend and to ensure that tools are implemented and operated in alignment with programme requirements.
  • This role does not define the methodology but ensures that tools effectively support its execution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Manage the implementation and deployment of tools used in the programme as structured projects (scope, schedule, stakeholders, risks)
  • Configure tools based on requirements provided by Programme Integration & Control, ensuring alignment with programme workflows and data structures
  • Ensure integration and consistency between tools, enabling coherent data flows across planning, risk, change, and reporting
  • Maintain and support the daytoday operation of the tool landscape, including updates, improvements, and issue resolution
  • Monitor and support tool usage and adoption across programme teams (Project Managers, Segment Delivery Managers, and support functions)
  • Provide handson support and troubleshooting for tool users
  • Support the creation of programme dashboards and reports through correct tool configuration and data availability
  • Coordinate with IT, vendors, and enterprise functions for tool deployment, maintenance, and compliance.

  • Good understanding of programme management domains (planning, risk, change, reporting)
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into practical tool configurations
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
  • Collaborative approach working with cross-functional project teams and ability to integrate individual duties towards successful realizations
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills as well as team spirit
  • Excellent analytical sense ability to synthesize
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in either Telecom, IT or Satellite Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years proven professional experience in project management
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Any other European Language is considered an asset
  • Experience in using MS Tools including MS Project
  • Strong experience in project management and programme environments
  • Experience in tool implementation and system integration
  • Proven experience in working with EU, ESA, and or national governmental institutions along ECSS standards
  • PMP® Certification (nonessential)
  • ITIL® 4 Certificate (nonessential)

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • The candidate must be eligible for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the national regulations as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents
  • Willing to work 60% onsite from office
  • Travel as required for project realization purposes
