ROLE DESCRIPTION
IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.
SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.
The IRIS2 team enters next project phases and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.
In your role, you are for performing project & service control for IRIS2 by performing pre-contract and post-contract controlling activities including active involvement on preparing and supporting negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors. You will work closely with Project Managers to monitor and report project financial performance, identify improvement areas and act as financial advisor to all PM. By reporting and consolidating project performance across the IRIS2 programme, you will also provide in-depth knowledge and contribute to the required level of transparency at programme level on the progress and performance of the individual projects and services of IRIS2. You will work in an agile project organization where a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset is required.
Eligibility for ESA/EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such clearance.
As a Project & Service Controller, you will be responsible to :
- Pre-Contract: cooperate with Project Managers, Procurement and/or Operations team related to validation of available budget funds, milestone plan and cash planning of required procurements
- Project financial reporting: maintain a detailed understanding of project and work package to date performance and margins, as well as regularly establish with PM a project to completion view and variance analysis
- Project & service controlling activities: monthly collection and review of project & service financials and timesheets, investigation of irregularities, identify and propose improvements, continue development of automation in forecasting processes and monitoring tools
- Be the point of contact and subject matter expert for project and work package specific budgeting, reporting and submission of costs & prices for ESA & EU contracts
- Maintain close collaboration with the IRIS2 Finance, Project Management Office, Quality, SES Finance, Legal and Vendor management teams to perform the above-mentioned tasks
- Be a proactive driver of process improvements and drive introduction and utilisation of new tools to optimise project and operational flows
YOUR PROFILE
1 – MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Control or FP&A functions
- Expert user of MS Excel and Power BI (or similar)
- Experienced in the daily usage of an ERP (e.g. SAP)
- Fluency in English
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision in complex environments, e.g. project or matrix organizations
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing project requirements and environments
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong Analytical mindset
- Strong data skills, ability to navigate in different systems
- Ability to think practical, work structured and solution oriented
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent teamwork and cross-functional cooperation
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Willing to set priorities and dependable about delivering within time frame
