ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY  

The government product manager will own the definition, validation and execution of the product in the fast-growing government markets, with particular focus on european opportunities.

Working closely with a cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders, the position will be accountable for the “end to end” conception, analysis and execution of a set of products in the government segment to meet the business plan for ses satellite fleet.  This will include quantitative work in market research, product definition and competitive positioning as well as documentation, development and execution of the product, market and financial plan associated with this segment of the business plan.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

 

  • Understanding technology and commercial trends driving the evolving Government Markets
  • Contributing to products across the entire service lifecycle from product discovery and validation through development and execution to end of life.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary team to deliver new products on time and on budget.
  • Defining and tracking KPI’s for success of government products, as measured by sales, revenues, P&L and ROI on required investments
  • Understanding price and cost structure for products & solutions in cooperation with internal stakeholders, and in alignment with relevant BPlan.
  • Leading the development of investment cases for new Government products
  • Evaluation and integration of customers’ feedback into product development and innovation to maintain and enhance product-market fit.
  • Working with Vendor management teams to ensure effective vendor support for defined products and competitive sourcing of technology and developments for the new products
  • Evaluate options for, and develop go-to-market strategy for government products and solutions
  • Supporting sales engagements to deliver product revenue
  • Developing pricing strategy of products
  • Supporting launch campaigns for new products
  • Overseeing training activities for sales and technical teams to support product success
  • Promoting awareness and create demand for relevant products and solutions through customer visits, independent speaker opportunities, product demos etc. at global events, conferences and other suitable occasions, support Sales colleagues in preparing for, and participating in customer meetings as required

  • Understanding government markets, including metrics of value, competitive positioning, technical performance and adoption hurdles.  Ability to lead, convince with data, and interact with multi-disciplinary Government Product team and larger Product & Strategy group.
  • High degree of Engineering understanding, in GSO and NGSO satellite communications.  Ability to grasp and derive technical performance characteristics across satellite, terminal and ground network components to develop business advantage.
  • Strategic product mindset, with tactical actions and timelines.  A combination of skills in abstraction of high-level metrics and right-to-win, with tactical execution/validation in marketplace.  Ability to estimate and analyze subsegments, market share, and resulting financial performance metrics.
  • Ability to compile, interpret and present information on complex and important issues in written and oral form to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem solving, demonstrated capacity to analyse complex and diverse problems related to Product definition and execution with major impact on the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s (or Higher Degree) in relevant field or demonstrated professional experience in technology product management
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in product development/management in the satellite communications, services or other technology field
  • Technical and commercial understanding of evolving government communications ecosystem and technologies, including service requirements for onboard sensor solutions
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and IP-enabled applications
  • EU citizen required, security clearances beneficial. 
  • Willingness to travel internationally
