Manager, IT Operations Systems

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

The position is directly responsible for the day-to-day running of the global server infrastructure (both on-premises and Cloud), including the implementation and deployment of all approved requests and changes in design/configuration of the environment in collaboration with the relevant Engineering teams. The incumbent will execute all required work according to SES standards and agreed timelines as per Target Letters and measured by KPI’s.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULTS AREAS

 

  • Manage a team of engineers and support them in operating, maintaining and enhancing the SES Server base utilizing SES standards
  • Lead the team through our digital transformation in collaboration with the project office to ensure a smooth migration of servers from on-prem to cloud
  • Lead the team to proactively recommend solutions/modifications of the existing environment in order to secure SES operational assets
  • Ensure the team stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art networking & security concepts and technologies
  • Ensure all the team understand and follow the full ITSM policies & procedures
  • Own and manage the budget of the Systems unit, responsible for the creation of the budget inputs for annual budgets
  • Provide inputs to Department heads for administrative and management tasks
  • Provide support to internal and external customers for clarification of technical matters and the resolution of technical issues
  • Provide general engineering support to other sections in the operational, engineering sales and business development area
  • Ensure the team is providing effective 2nd level support
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers and recommend cost effective solutions and ongoing maintenance arrangements
  • Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art IT concepts and technologies

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent
  • Minimum eight to ten years of applicable professional experience in a large heterogeneous environment
  • Sound technical understanding of the IT landscape and related technical skills
  • Extensive knowledge of technologies including, but not limited to CISCO, ESX, Nutanix, MS Windows, Linux, VEEAM, Evault, CUCM, Azure
  • Sound knowledge of tools including, but not limited to, Infoblox, Netbrain, QRadar, Centreon
  • Firm understanding of financial aspects for budgetary and planning purposes
  • Broad knowledge of Information Security and knowledge of the specificities of the satellite industry
  • Broad understanding of all technologies covered in the IT Operations group and of Operational Principles
  • Fluency in English, any other language is considered as an asset
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • NATO/EU SECRET clearances are considered a strong asset. Candidate must be willing to undergo a security clearance procedure as this position might require holding security clearance
