Junior Specialist, Insurance

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

As a member of SES’ world-class insurance team, you will support placement and development of both satellite and non-satellite insurances for the SES Group. You will assist in the operation of the SES Captive insurance and reinsurance companies and risk specific analysis and will contribute to define, refine and implement a proactive and rigorous Risk Management philosophy. You will work in close coordination with the Finance, Technology and Legal departments of SES, with the space insurance community, and with the various SES affiliates.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

• Support placement and management of all satellite and non-satellite insurance policies and respond to specific needs that may arise in relation to the insurance coverages
• Together with Senior Manager, Insurance develop and implement insurance strategy, coverage definitions and negotiate (re)insurance contracts with brokers and underwriters worldwide
• Support the management of SES insurance and reinsurance captive companies, including organisation of the Board meetings, dealing with internal and external auditors with the objective to ensure compliance with the Solvency II directive and maximise financial benefits for SES as a whole
• Support the development of launch insurance Technical Appendices
• Handle underwriters’ technical questions and answers process and anomaly notifications process in coordination with Technology
• Interface with the SES Transfer Pricing team for the determination of the pricing of inter-company insurance transactions;
• Support the negotiation of service level agreements with brokers and service providers worldwide
• Assist in conducting SES Business Plan development and budgeting activities
• Arrange internal sign-off of amounts of insurance, launch placement, claims negotiations and any other similar documentation
• Assist in developing and maintaining insurance related documentation including Non-Disclosure Agreements, contracts of insurance, policy endorsements, invoices, Export Control documents etc
• Support coordinating the organisation of technical underwriter briefings in coordination with Technology and SES Insurance Brokers
• Respond and assist to other specific needs of SES as they arise

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors’ Degree in a Finance or Business-related area, with additional insurance qualification (Dip CII, ACII or equivalent or studying towards) completed or in progress; preference given to candidates with Aerospace Engineering or similar degrees
• 2+ years of insurance market experience (either in a corporate setting, brokerage or insurance company), however engineering backgrounds candidates will be considered with no insurance background
• Global satellite and non-satellite (business) insurance understanding and market knowledge
• Experience with commercial space activities and understanding of satellite operations
• Experience with insurance captive activities
