Junior Legal Counsel

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The position sits within the Legal Services (Technology, Development, IT & Global Services) team and assists across the full range of legal matters falling within the team’s responsibilities including Technology (procurement of spacecraft and launch services, ground systems and sub-systems, support services, teleport services, connectivity arrangements and more), Business Development activities (including M&A related matters), Global Service Delivery, real estate matters and IT procurement.
Extended Job Description:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
- Draft, review, negotiate and interpret and advise the business on consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, service delivery agreements and work orders, and a broad range of procurement contracts for hardware, software and other goods and services
- Provide practical advice and guidance on legal and commercial aspects of SES’s business activities to members of SES’s functional departments, in particular Technology, Global Services and Finance teams
- Support change initiatives to improve the delivery of legal services, including automating high volume processes and developing new and improving existing templates
- Assist in transactional, joint venture and M&A due diligence reviews, document preparation and negotiations, ensuring compliance with applicable national and international laws and regulations
- Proactively identify legal issues and risks for management consideration and provision of appropriate risk mitigation strategies
- Provide legal advice pertaining to and participate in cybersecurity projects, data protection and data management
- Conduct research and draft memoranda in various legal fields

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree or LLM in law
- Bar qualification would be well regarded
- One to three years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or legal department of a company would be of advantage
- Experience in the telecommunication/media sector would be of advantage
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS
- Excellent English drafting skills
- Fluency in English. French or German is an advantage and additional European languages are considered an asset
- Availability to travel as required
