Internship - Software Defined Radio Developer

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Within the “New Technology and Standards” team of SES, the role of the Software Defined Radio Developer is to design a modem. This modem is intended for evaluating new transmission technologies for satellite broadcast. The hardware will be based on a Lime SDR platform.

The internship duration is 3 months starting in spring or summer 2020.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyse the requirements to setup a development environment using the Lime SDR platform.
  • Start with GNU-Radio to create a DVB-S2 (and DVB-S2X) modulator.
  • Verify interoperability with satellite receiver end products.
  • Test and validate the performance of the design.
  • Upgrade the design to Multicarrier operation.
  • Perform bug verification and testing.
  • Participate in meetings and work with the team to evaluate performance of the overall solution.
  • Prepare and deliver a comprehensive documentation of the whole project.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Being an advanced final year Bachelor/Master’s student in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Previous experience with a Software Defined Radio development.
  • Strong interest in the media/telecommunication business and technical interest in satellite communications.
  • Excellent analytical and judgment skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Easiness to communicate at all levels.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English with additional languages considered an asset.
  • EU nationality or work permit for Luxembourg.
