Internship - Cyber Security for Space Operations Software Engineering

Are you looking for a 3- to 6-month internship, starting in January 2023?


This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the IT-Cyber-Security efforts for the Space Operations-Software Engineering (SOE) team in a fast-paced, global organization within an innovative and unique industry.

Based in Betzdorf, Luxembourg, you will contribute to the improvement of its IT/Cyber-Security efforts and risk reductions as it relates to the software development and maintenance activities for the Ground Control System (GCS) and associated Citrix systems (used as Bastion Hosts) used to fly 50+ satellites. During your internship, you will be in charge of (non-exhaustive list):

  • Review, assess and develop Policies and Procedures (P&P) related to SpaceOps/SOE Cyber-Security especially to ensure compliance with external Cyber-Security Standards (e.g. IA-Pre and ISO-27001.  
  • Meet, discuss, share and support implementation of unified Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution for SpaceOps systems. 
  • Familiarity with Scripting Languages (Powershell, bash, etc) to automate integration of GCS hosts. 
  • Review, discuss, asses and develop technical solutions for Window Event message forwarding to SES Logging/SIEM Solution (QRadar)



1. You must have

  • Being an advanced student in Computer Science, with a focus/major on IT/Cyber-Security
  • Experience with Linux command line, Linux scripting (bash), and MS-Windows scripting (preferably with Powershell)
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Able to work in Luxembourg (EU nationality or current valid work permit for Luxembourg).


2. It would be nice if you had

  • Strong interest in the media/telecommunication business and technical interest in satellites;
  • Good analytical and judgment skills, experience with all aspects of IT/Cyber-Security including risk management, authentication management solutions (LDAP, AD, etc.), patching/remediation, and Linux/Windows Log Forwarding;
  • Basic understanding of software development processes and practices;
  • Ability to set priorities and to work under tight deadlines;
  • Work independently as well as in a team;
  • Easiness to communicate at all levels;
  • Additional languages considered an asset.
