Internship - Ground Network Monitoring System in Java/C++

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

6-month internship, starting in the first quarter of 2021
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Software Solutions Engineering team at SES-TechCom in a fast-paced, global organization within an innovative and unique industry.
Based in Luxembourg, you will contribute to extend and customize the Ground Network Monitoring System (G-NMS) for our customer’s Emergency Response communication platform (https://emergency.lu). The G-NMS is currently based on Grafana (https://grafana.com), NetXMS (https://netxms.org/) and Timescale (https://www.timescale.com) software.

 

Extended Job Description:

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the development, configuration and verification of a unified monitoring system and multi-tenant customer interface for a geographically distributed ground station network. Examples of required extensions include: 

  • Integrate G-NMS with SES Central Authentication Service (CAS)
  • Improve Ground equipment auto-discovery and monitoring
  • Improve G-NMS self-monitoring, backup and high-availability
  • Integrate G-NMS with our Incident and Asset Management System
  • Support the migration of G-NMS to Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Improve VSAT & Power-Box monitoring
  • Evaluate Customer Service Management (CSM) and Multimedia Network Operations Centre (MNOC) additional requirements & feedback

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Being an advanced Bachelor or Master’s student in ICT or in a relevant technical area;
  • Strong interest in network monitoring systems, customer support interfaces and key performance indicator metrics
  • Sound knowledge of IP networks and protocols
  • Basic understanding of satellite ground stations
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Java and C++
  • Excellent analytical and judgment skills
  • Ability to set priorities and to work under tight deadlines;
  • Work independently as well as in a team;
  • Easiness to communicate at all levels;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English with additional languages considered an asset.
  • EU nationality or work permit for Luxembourg.
