Internship - Cloud-based Ground Network Monitoring System (NMS)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Are you looking for a 6-month internship, starting in February 2023 ?

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-moving global organization within an innovative and unique industry.

Based in Luxembourg, you will contribute to extend and customize the Ground Network Monitoring System (G-NMS) for our customer’s Emergency Response communication platform (https://emergency.lu).
Under the guidance of our lead software engineer, you will migrate and enhance emergency.lu Ground Network Monitoring System (G-NMS) functionality to a Telegraf-InfluxDB-Grafana-Kapacitor (TIGK) stack (https://hackaday.io/page/3579-introduction-to-tigk-stack-for-iot). This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the telecommunication and space industry and enhance your business skills. In this context, you will be in charge of (non-exhaustive list):

• Supporting the development, configuration and verification of a unified monitoring system and multi-tenant customer interface for a geographically distributed ground station network. Examples of required extensions include: 
  • Improve Ground equipment auto-discovery and monitoring
  • Improve G-NMS self-monitoring, backup and high-availability in a cloud based environment
  • Support the deployment and operation of G-NMS to Microsoft Azure Cloud

YOUR PROFILE

1. You must have

• Current advanced Bachelor or Master’s student in ICT or in a relevant technical area;
• Strong interest in network monitoring systems, customer support interfaces and key performance indicator metrics;
• Working knowledge of Linux, Java, Python or C++;
• Fluency in spoken and written English;
• Able to work in Luxembourg (EU nationality or current valid work permit for Luxembourg).
   

2. It would be nice if you had 

• Ability to set priorities and to work under tight deadlines;
• Sound knowledge of IP networks and protocols;
• Basic understanding of satellite ground stations;
• Good understanding of web based frontends (JS, TS or similar);
• Additional languages considered an asset.
