Internship - Cloud-based Asset Management System (UCI)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Are you looking for a 6-month internship in Engineering, starting as soon as possible ?

 

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-moving global organization within an innovative and unique industry.

 

Based in Luxembourg, you will contribute to evolve the asset management system (UCI) for our customer’s Emergency Response communication platform (https://emergency.lu).
Under the guidance of our lead software engineer, you will contribute to maintain and enhance emergency.lu asset management system functionality. This process includes analyzing the current state of the system and explore potential changes.

This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the telecommunication and space industry and enhance your business skills. In this context, you will be in charge of (non-exhaustive list):

  • Support the development, configuration and verification of a unified monitoring system and multi-tenant customer interface for a geographically distributed ground station network. Examples of required extensions include: 
    • Improve UCI self-monitoring, backup and high-availability in a cloud based environment
    • Explore new high-level and long-term solutions for potential technology migration. 
    • Integrate the Asset Management System with our Network Monitoring System
    • Support the deployment and operation of the system to Microsoft Azure Cloud
    • Improve VSAT & Power-Box monitoring

 

YOUR PROFILE

1. You must have

  • Current advanced Bachelor or Master’s student in ICT or in a relevant technical area;
  • Working knowledge of Linux;
  • Basic understanding of the programming language Perl;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English;
  • Able to work in luxembourg (EU nationality or current valid work permit for Luxembourg).

2. It would be nice if you had 

  • Sound knowledge of IP networks and protocols;
  • Basic understanding of satellite ground stations;
  • Additional languages considered an asset.
