Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystems, Payload

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

SES’ purpose is to do the extraordinary in space to deliver amazing experiences on earth and the Spacecraft Engineering team is core to this promise.

We ensure:

  • Six sigma satellite service availability
  • Safe and efficient operations of the satellite fleet
  • Collaborate and co-create spacecraft specifications and solutions together with the Space Operations and Spacecraft Procurement teams
  • Analyse cost and opportunity and provide recommendations and technical advice

 

You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Monitor health status and provide on-call support for satellites in operation, including recovery and follow-up of eventual spacecraft off-limit conditions, anomalies and service interruptions
  • Support procedure development of payload mission of the current and upcoming satellites. Ensure lessons learned are applied.
  • Specify, develop and maintain applications and tools required for dynamic payload operations in a modern environment
  • Implement satellite reconfigurations with a focus on satellite safety and Customer satisfaction
  • Plan, coordinate, perform and evaluate payload RF testing as required
  • Develop system level operational concept used as reference to define development
  • Perform required engineering analysis, modelling and parameters modifications to optimise satellite performances or adapt them to new business needs

 

 

YOUR PROFILE:

 

1. Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (master’s degree preferred), with a specialization in Radio Frequency telecommunications
  • Have good software programming skills, with some networking and database management skills, in a Pyton ecosystem
  • Be able to provide 24/7 on-call support, react to contingencies and cope with high stress situations
  • Fluency in English 

 

2. Nice to Have

  • Have some theoretical knowledge on the satellite telecommunication payload subsystem components and link budgets
  • Knowledge in cloud environment
  • Prior professional experience in a similar assignment 
  • Ability to generate, review and validate reliable operating procedures and instructions
