Engineer, Gateway Infrastructure

The Engineer, Gateway Infrastructure is a key member of the SES Technology Ground Infrastructure team providing expertise in the Order-to-fulfilment domain, mainly Service Design and Operations at SES GEO/MEO Gateways. The engineer’s activities will include the active collection as well as definition of technical requirements and processes for implementing Service platforms. This comprises interface management as well as coordination across multiple internal teams and customers. A further part of the role as a part of GW Infrastructure team is to manage, troubleshoot and operate GW Infrastructure together with system vendors and 3rd party contractors. These shall include Site Infrastructure, Antenna & RF Sub-systems, Modem/Platforms installed worldwide at SES Gateways.


Extended Job Description:




Manage Gateway infrastructure systems helping ensure correct 24/7 operations

Design, specify and implement services (Data, Video & TT&C) at the Gateway and other remote teleports.

Perform remote configuration, management and troubleshooting of Gateway Infrastructure

Support the transition of the new products into operations ensuring the proper tools and training are in place

Directly support operations team in missions and project roll-outs

Develop procedures and perform periodic ground systems health checks

BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering or Telecommunications, or similar

At least 2 years of relevant "hands-on" operations/engineering experience in a telecommunications domain, including RF

Experience in operating and maintaining high availability of telecommunications systems

Understanding of GEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems



This position requires scheduled On-Call standby and support during regular and out-of-office hours according and within the limitations of the currently applicable On-Call policy

The incumbent must be willing to undergo a NATO security clearance

Comfortable to work at height
