Electronics Manufacturing Technician, PCBA & Harness, Satellite Manufacturing

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Electronics Manufacturing Technician performs assembly, rework, and inspection activities across PCB assemblies (PCBA) and electrical harnesses used in satellite and ground systems operating in high-reliability, mission-critical environments.
The role supports the full electronics manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring compliance with IPC standards, ESD controls, and aerospace-grade quality and traceability requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
PCBA Manufacturing
- Operate SMT production equipment including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens
- Support SMT line setup, changeovers, and basic process control
- Perform SMT and through-hole assembly
- Conduct manual soldering and component replacement
- Support functional testing and basic electrical verification
Rework and Repair
- Perform soldering and rework activities including fine-pitch components
- Support PCB repair and modification activities in line with IPC-7711/7721
- Assist with basic debugging and failure investigation
Harness Manufacturing
- Assemble cable harnesses including crimping, soldering, and connector installation
- Route wiring according to build documentation and schematics
- Work in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards (preferred)
Inspection & Quality
- Perform visual inspection of PCB and harness assemblies according to IPC standards
- Identify defects and report non-conformances
- Verify wiring configurations and connector pin assignments
- Record inspection results where applicable
- Support root cause identification of manufacturing defects
Manufacturing Support
- Support engineering teams during testing, troubleshooting, and build activities
- Contribute to prototype builds and low-volume production
- Follow strict ESD, cleanliness, and controlled process requirements
Cleaning & Coating
- Perform PCB cleaning according to defined procedures
- Support conformal coating processes
- Ensure cleanliness requirements for high-reliability assemblies are met
Documentation & Traceability
- Record manufacturing activities in MES/ERP systems
- Maintain accurate and complete traceability records
- Follow controlled work instructions and manufacturing documentation
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
Qualifications & Experience
Education / Training
Technical education in electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or similar
OR equivalent hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing
Experience
- 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing
- Experience with PCB assembly, SMT processes, or electronics repair
- Experience working in production or lab environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SMT equipment and PCBA manufacturing processes
- Experience in harness assembly
- Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
- Experience in aerospace or high-reliability electronics manufacturing
- Experience working in ESD-controlled environments
Nice to Have
- Experience in cleanroom environments
- Familiarity with ECSS / ESA standards
- Experience with manufacturing documentation systems or travelers

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS
- Eligibility for ESA/EU/NATO/National SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such clearance
- Willingness to work 100% onsite from office
