Chief Architect, OSS/BSS, IRIS2

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States. In addition, as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while benefiting from ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.

SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by the European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.

The IRIS2 team enters next project phases, we seek and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Join our team as part of the SpaceRise consortium to help shape the future of space-based 5G connectivity under the European IRIS² initiative. We are building next-generation Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) services that seamlessly integrate satellite and terrestrial ecosystems.

As an OSS/BSS Architect, you will define and evolve the end-to-end architecture enabling service fulfilment, service assurance, orchestration, FCAPS management, and customer experience optimization for hybrid satellite–terrestrial services. You will structure product and service catalogs, model CFS/RFS lifecycles, design SQM frameworks, ensure roaming readiness, and support automation and SON-aligned operational processes. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, satellite operations, IT, and standards bodies to support scalable, automated, and globally available services.

This role is ideal for a strategic architect with deep telecom expertise, especially in satellite networks, who wants to influence the development of Europe’s 5G space infrastructure.

As a Chief Architect, OSS/BSS, IRIS2, you will be responsible to :

  • Define OSS/BSS architecture for telecom and satellite services (LEO/MEO/GEO, NTN).
  • Design and maintain service catalogs, product catalogs, and CFS/RFS models aligned with TMF standards.
  • Architect service assurance and SQM solutions using active and passive probes.
  • Define and map KPIs/KQIs across network, service, and customer layers.
  • Support roaming agreement integration and roaming tests (IREG, TADIG, IR.21/IR.85/IR.88).
  • Integrate OSS/BSS components with ONAP, ETSI-OSM, NFV/SDN orchestrators.
  • Ensure alignment with 3GPP FCAPS management models for fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security/software.
  • Collaborate on Self-Organized Network (SON) processes for automation, optimization, and closed-loop control.
  • Work across engineering, satellite operations, IT, and vendors to ensure robust lifecycle management.

COMPETENCIES

  • Experience with service assurance, SQM, and monitoring through active and passive probes.
  • Strong understanding of KPIs, KQIs, SLA models, and analytics.
  • Solid experience with roaming frameworks (IR.21, IR.85, IR.88, IREG, TADIG, TAP).
  • Knowledge of 3GPP FCAPS and operational automation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Self-Organized Networks (SON) principles and use cases.
  • Hands-on experience in telecom services, especially satellite networks (NTN/LEO/MEO/GEO).
