ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

The incumbent is responsible for the execution of the steps involved in generating the monthly group financial reporting and consolidation process of SES Group (‘the Group’).

He/she also analyses, and provides relevant business commentary on, the financial results of the Group and provides timely, accurate and well-drafted proposals for the both the Group’s management reporting as well as the IFRS consolidated financial statements – and other relevant regulatory reporting disclosures.

He/she is responsible for leading or giving support on various projects delegated / allocated by the Director, Group Financial Reporting, including group-wide system upgrades and process transitions.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

 

  • Prepare and execute the monthly IFRS consolidation programme, including posting of journal entries, reviewing the consolidation tasks performed by less experienced team members, and performing / reviewing periodic controls to ensure the operational effectiveness of the group financial reporting process
  • Resolve problems / irregularities in the closing process through clear communication with, and coordination of, team members across the Group including Controlling, Accounting, Tax, Treasury and other Finance functions
  • Perform analytical review procedures on the group’s consolidated balance sheet and income statement
  • Support the drafting of internal and external financial reporting including consolidated IFRS financial statements
  • Coordinate the status of the external and internal audit requests and ensure the timely resolution of issues identified
  • Support the implementation and developments to accounting and / or reporting processes and systems to strengthen quality framework
  • Work with the Tax department in the coordination of the tax accounting processes and preparation of regulatory disclosures ensuring that all necessary steps are performed, and all stakeholders follow the agreed processes
  • Back-up other team members as needed

 

COMPETENCIES

 

  • A good up-to-date technical understanding of accounting and consolidation under IFRS
  • Strong analytical skills(consolidation & variance analysis) and care in understanding and checking information
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Some working hours flexibility in view of the requirements of the monthly reporting cycle
  • The ability to communicate, and guide, clearly in an international environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Partially qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent), preferably exposure with a Big-4 background
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in financial reporting or auditing of an international group
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
